Yes but how can you show off that you've got an electric bike without a throttle. You can't glide away from the shops/pub on one pedal as you nonchalantly throw you leg over and disappear into the sunset.
Actually I used to do the first part of that on the Lafree, possible because the Panasonic system gives full thrust on a hard pedal pressure at a standstill. Of course once te leg was over I had to immediately follow with pedalling to sustain the power assist.
Much better showing off was with the eZee Quando and fully loaded very large trailer. Just a twist of the throttle with no pedalling at all was all that was necessary to glide almost silently off the mark and swiftly on. Always a popular attraction at the local council tip!
