Has any members any thoughts about buying/building a new e-bike in 2014?
Some thought starters-
Would it be hub or crank drive?
Would it be mountain/trekking or commuter style bike?
Would it be German supply or asian supply?
What sort of money is a reasonable spend?
Any other thoughts?

Not really new years resolution, but I'm just about to put together a couple of MTB's for off road. Chinese supply hub motors, (Bafang CST, 500w), budget of about £600 + donor bikes.

This will include 20ah batteries, giving a range around 40 miles (if ridden carefully. I normally ride it like I knicked though).

I reckon £600 and a bit of time n effort should give me a pretty decent bike.

Will we see this one listed in the classified section for £1200 when you're start your next project 3 weeks later?

Sounds about right :)

I think I just prefer building them instead of actually riding them.

This one should hit 50mph, and get there pretty quickly.

I haven't added this build up yet, and I don't plan to :)

..bit roughly;

Bomber 888 forks £250 after I rebuilt them
4080 motor, rim, spokes £400
Lipos £250
Brake setup Hope M4s 203mm floating rotors £350

No, I was luck enough to buy it from someone who has designed and built it.

I haven't got any new year resolution yet but if you wanted some input to help with selling more bikes next year then my predictions are that 2014 will not see any new tendency.
Most current bikes are already matured products sold at inflated price.
