I'm possibly getting a used bike from here, and then I thought "Yeah I'd probably want insurance" Where have people gone to buy insurance? And then for them to pay out for what it costs, as opposed to what it's worth in x amounts of time?

I don't have contents insurance because I'm renting a room, and I don't like having a huge amount of stuff, so self insurance has been fine for me for well, forever. It's quite a bit different when it comes to something that goes on the road though!

I looked on line for eBike insurance as I did not have bicycle cover on my house insurance. One quote was for £79 for 12 months. Considering I pay £82 fully comprehensive on my 2014 Yamaha 250cc X Max scooter I declined the quote. Another quote appeared better at £54 a year but purchasing one their recommended cycle locks added another £68.99 to the first years premium. A phone call to my house insurer's and my eBike was added to content insurance for £16 + £12 administration cost. I know you say you do not have content insurance but it may be worth seeking.

my bike new at the time was 6k tho it was still cheaper to have a sports car that was 25k

the best cheapest option is with contents insurance but if it goes over a price point it must be listed separate but depends on which ones you choose.

i think all insurance is a rip off/scam as they will try everything not to pay out as soon as you put a claim in tbh esp for high value items.

and as for bike locks have a look here. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm9K6rby98W8JigLoZOh6FQ/videos

It's honestly one of the reasons why I've never had contents insurance.

i guess that answers your own question unless you are spending 5k plus even then it is just not worth it esp where you are atm.

Could I ask why you got such an expensive bike?

Also, would this do me?

Would I need anything else? I'm guessing it clips on the frame quite easily?

tbh i dont bother with locks as all can be picked or cut in half in seconds so never leave my bike anywhere just check if it comes with a frame mount or not.

and if you want the best you got to pay for it you can spend 3k just on a wheel set https://www.enve.com/en/products/m930/
