Thanks d8veh. Out of interest, is your clearance between rear tyre and drilled strut also quite tight for your bikes? I wondered in my case whether the guard could be inserted in front of the strut (i.e. into the triangle) but some guards might be too wide for that.

Fair point Eddieo, although my efforts would probably look quite tatty! I'd get it right on mudguard number 4 I suppose ;)

The mudguard isn't much wider than the tyre apart from the back bit - hence the name.
I just threaded it through and put a couple of cable ties through the bracket to hold it securely in place.

Thanks Eddieo, got a couple of No Mud mudguards coming my way. Found them cheap at the linked store, with only a pound for postage.

If you're after mudguards, these ones are pretty good - nice and long and only £13. They are just stiff enough that they don't need stays. I've fitted them to forks that are not even drilled: The bracket can be cable-tied securely to the fork crown.

Excellent! I've been trying to find a front guard with exactly that type of bracket with the two side holes to fit my old Bombers.
Cheers Dave

They've just arrived and they fit excellently and much better than the old ones; the rear being a couple of inches longer and with that distinctive beaver's ass will really help. I wish the front had a similar end, but it's easy enough to add a flap-type-thingy. Upshot is, the front will mount perfectly on the Bomber fork brace - brill stuff.

Even if you don't have a hole/thread in your forks, you can use cable-ties to hold them securely in place. Mine have been like that for over a year now.

Oh yes, that works well enough. My old guard didn't have the extra width on the bracket to allow ties to hold it any way securely. I was sure there would be a Bomber-fit bracket somewhere, but every one I looked at just had the normal centre slot /hole.
I've got them now and it leaves a set of spares for the next chariot, which is always good. :)
