Has anyone fitted indicator lights to their bike and if so can you recommend any?

I spotted these cheap and cheerful ones on eBay... I wonder if they're bright enough to use in daytime or just for night use..

I suppose you could buy them and modify with higher power LEDs and run off your e-bike battery perhaps.

I purchased these light and they are crappy crap! don't buy them and quality is really cheap.

I use Hobby king amber led light for my indicators and it works flawlessly. It however takes time to solder everything together and people don't immediately recognize it as indicators.

It has however helped me several time when I wanted to turn left or right. What I like about these led is that they don't take much space. The problem is that sometime people say it looks like christmas with my bike lol

neat, look very bright in daylight. I guess that's the thing with bike indicators..the ones I posted can only be seen from behind...yours will be seen all round so if a car is coming alongside they know to give you room and back off if you're going to make a turn.

I tried these ones that are similar.
Bicycle Cycling 7 LED Turn Signal Brake Light Lamp Horn For Safety warning | eBay
They're not very good in bright sunlight, but great at night when you need them the most.

The slide switch was impossible to use, so I mounted a remote toggle switch, which was much more convenient.
Thats a good idea having a horn too to replace the bell and free up some handlebar space.. it's often the way with Chinese stuff that you end up "hacking" it or using the basic parts/casing to build something better :)

I'm tempted to have a go at building my own indicator lights if I can find some suitable mounting brackets.. I would have to do them on the sides on my mezzo because those big integrated lights wouldn't work with my commuter bag covering it up and too heavy I think to attach on the back loop.

I got through 3 sets of bicygnals before giving up on them altogether. Great idea, great lights, terrible mount. They snap off your bike after a few months. It's such a pity they have never addressed this issue because they tick all the right boxes - bright, no wires, good battery life, big thumb friendly buttons, red/white light in centre with amber flashers either side so traffic can tell which indicator you are using. For them to still have such patently inadequate fittings is a travesty.

Have to confess to impulse-buying a pair of these in one of those "carried away with a haggle" moments at the NEC ... impossibly short velcro straps (unless you're in a Lycra top - and I have small wrists !), have to be mounted the right way up or they don't work ... and one of those things you look at in your rack bag and think ... really ?????? !!!!!!

I would tend to be very wary of indicators on an ebike, or pushbike. Motorists are not used to seeing them, and by the time they get off the phone they have hit you. If they do see them, then they do not always recognise what they are looking at. Indicators , if used in daylight, should be used as a back-up to hand signals. I like the idea of wrist mounted indicators to draw attention to a hand signal.

@mophix and cwah.

I picked up those exact lights at a car bootie for 50p

I then stripped out the electrics inside and rehoused inside an old leather selle monte manapole grip ( I recently got a new set)

Crucially I replaced the 2 x aa with one 3.7v cr123a battery. LEDs are way brighter ! Works pretty well I think though I still use my exposure flare in the centre.

You can just about see on this pic but I'll take another if I remember !

I should say I also previously hacked some LEDs onto a pair of gloves . Abject failure as could not get switching right

Also both no good in daytime - only at night

I bought a couple pairs of the cheap hi-vis wrtistbands with flashing leds on, that Aldi were selling recently.

They seem ok at the mo, but I'll have to get some spare button batteries soon.

Nice idea there Garry

I would have thought it especially hard to make these for flat bars - just needs a 90 degree bend

Just remembered about these. We used to use them on our old classic motorbikes. I've still got a pair somewhere mixed up with the junque in my shed. They can be seen from the front and the back. You have to drill a hole in your handlebars to let the wire out and you need a 12v supply and a flasher unit. You can get a small 12v lithium battery and flasher from Ebay or use three untrafire cells:
