I didn't actually notice this while riding. it was only by chance that I selected this clip out of about 20 to see how good the camera is. It all happens in the first couple of seconds so be quick. It took me manyy attempts at stopping the video at the right place to get the registration number, even though the car is right in front of me. Just one frame gives it. See my comments in the other thread about the Innovv H5 camera. You need to slow it down to 0.25 speed to see what happens.

A poor bit of driving visually esp as that car at the T junction could have pulled out, they should have passed after the junction .
Worth sending to Op snap as at least he deserves a good lecturing regarding his poor judgement.

If that first car had passed closer, that number plate would have been even blurrier. I'd be checking out what manual settings are available.

How close do you think they were? It looks like the white car is well over the line. The overtaking car gave me plenty of room. They were probably looking at me rather than the white car. I thought the white car was rolling forward at first, but it's hard to see. The wheel spokes seem to keep position, though.

It's not an expensive camera, but should be a lot clearer than that for that kind of money, and in more frames. Probably can be, with a bit of mucking about with settings, depending on what's available. The overexposure problem might also be addressed.

Megapixels really don't matter, not for this sort of stuff anyway.

When you know what it is already. That D could be anything. I don't think that photo would stand up in court. There are too many artifacts in it. Zoom in and see what you get.

The way to get around that is to use the https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-tax website. Assess the colour and make of car and model if you like and enter what you think is the registration into the search box. Then it comes up with the details. If the supposed 'D' turns out to be an 'O' you can try that until you find the right car.

So your offender turns out to be a match for a grey VW and that is what we see in your photo ->

The test for that is that the standard of driving was well below what is expected of a reasonable driver.

They tell him he can have a fixed penalty and points or a trial with costs and, potentially a much larger fine. In almost every case the guy knows he was there and sees what he did and puts his hands up.

If you intend to report the incident, you should take down the video, because its presence on line might interfere with the idea of a fair trial.

I wish I'd seen it in real time, and I really wished I'd put an SD card in my spy glasses the other day when that truck did his thing. He'd probably have gone to jail for what he did - deliberately tried to run me off the road twice, and was so focused on me the second time that he didn't see the traffic lights were red, and went straight through. It could have been very nasty. It was a long low-loader artic with equpment of some sort on the back.

It is surprising that there are so many real psychos on the roads.

I found though that the police usually charge a lesser offence to be sure of convicting them.

A couple of years ago, I reported and sent video of a guy hurtling towards me on a bridge on the A69 overtaking traffic having crossed double white lines to overtake along line of traffic. He missed a head on with me partly because i did an emergency stop (almost stopped) and people in the oncoming lane braked hard so he got in JUST ahead of me. He was really shifting and it would have been carnage if he had not been able to get in through the good graces of other drivers. I thought it was open and shut Dangerous Driving, but they did him for Driving without Due Care. I talked to the officer who made the decision when he phoned me to say he was prosecuting and he just said he would rather get him for sure than risk him getting off. I would post the footage except it is on another machine and would be a pain to get off. I thought it was a bit of a lazy decision. The driver missed a head on with me by about twenty feet max. and he was speeding too. I was a bit shaken by that one.

I think that they go for careless driving if nobody was injured, because it's arguably safe if nobody was hurt, but if somebody was hurt, it becomes de facto` dangerous that nobody can argue with.

Looking at it again it seems less horrifying than I remember, but it was a shock because it was on a bridge and there was nowhere to go when I first spotted him.

These are teh drivers that kill people all the time, so I have no problem in sending dash cam footage for consideration by the prosecuting authorities.

Just the other day a family and two motorcyclists were killed by some such lunatic in a Porsche - I think. I don't know what happened but he is in clink or was, and if found guilty of killing six people he can expect some long time behind bars. One rat was sent down for 17 years for killing people a week or two back. I have no time for bad driving at all, as do most two wheel riders - motorised or not.

Which of your GoPros 10 to 28.52 snapped that? Whichever, it has a better sensor than mine - good colour depth as well as clarity, nothing blown out in the sky. Useful for spotting relentlessly peckish marauding aliens craving solar panel snacks, and well ahead of time.

With your larger and more sensitive sensor, colour depth will be better, and you may get even away with dropping ISO to 400 for less noise and better colour? Or higher shutter speed? Dunno, could be way too dark but you'll have to see, and I await results of your experiments with interest. Your 10s also have horizon lock, which my GP doesn't. Alien invasion timelapses will be a bonus of course, especially the ones of them munching solar panels with lithium dips on the side.
