You already have one Lynda, it's attached to one of the rear wheel spokes. ;)
That was a 'go slow' one Bob....I took it off the first day lol :p

Possibly a switch to enable dongle/no-dongle modes to be selected?

I haven't looked into how this is wired but imagine that's possible, so useful for reversion to legal on-road.
Good thought. However, since "off road" is invariably as illegal as on road (bar a private farm track where going >15mph is likely more a concept than a reality) the only circumstances where legal reversion would probably be sought by most dongle owners would be when flogging on their bike ! If it's carted off in an accident for examination then you probably won't be in circumstances where you'd get the chance to unplug or switch off anything ;)

Guess you could work on some crafty switches etc - but just thinking about the location of the crank unit and internally routed wiring for eg on a step-through Agattu, any sort of cabling is likely to stand out like a sore thumb and draw unnecessary attention.

I just think it's all a bit of a contorted way to increase assist speed (if you want to do that) with as many downsides as benefits over the alternative - i.e. pressing about 3 buttons on a manufacturer service module (in respect of Impulse in any case). Unless access to the latter proves impossible, in which case a 3rd party mod then becomes necessary.

Oh and Flecc of course I will provide a link for your website as soon as I have them listed on mine :)

Regards
Martin
As promised Martin, I've added your linking information to a new Performance Enhancement page on my Panasonic support website.

On this Index Page the link to the performance enhancement page is in the introduction paragraph and repeated in the Both Units section below.

"Martin, If I was you I would take more notice of the last two sentences of Hech.......remember his great 'late night' sense of humour......

btw....is there such a thing as a Tonaro dongle ???

Lynda "

Hey Funkylyn, you are a really nice, balanced and classy lady, well done.
I dont quite know why so many others get so upset at the drunken nonsense I am in the habit of posting in the middle of the night - often the only time I get to look in at the forum. I get a lot of fun from these posts and assumed they were taken in a similar way for the harmless raving and moon howling it is. This forum has given me far too much to ever wish to offend any member in any way, I am mortified at the thought of it!

Well I think your posts are great Hech, and their entertainment value improves with the advance of the hours. ;)

I love this forum. There are days when I convince myself I even understand the language - then along come a string (thread?) like this and I'm happy again just to be in the presence of gods. Dongles? Impulse LCDs?
I went for an ebike ride yesterday. The sun shone (mostly) and the cake shop was well stocked ...
I know I'm the village idiot - I can tell by the straw in my hair - but I'm a happy idiot ... at least in the sunshine. Perhaps I can weave the straw in my hair into a wicker safety helmet to match the wicker basket on the handlebars (which yesterday contained a bottle of Pinot Grigio, a French loaf and a portion of St Agur cheese. I'm a happy idiot and I write books!

I never liked Hech at first, thought he was an aggravating bar stewart. But with time I've learnt what he's about and quite warmed to him. Keep it up matey :p

Thanks flecc, looks good!
Some good information there too for other alternatives.
(I thought the shunt modification on the 26v was top secret?! ;))

It was, but the presence of a shunt leaked out so the eventual outcome was inevitable. At least in covering it's possibilities I could stress the disadvantages

I rather doubt it will be a problem Martin. Even with the very easy shunt access of hub motor controllers the number attempting it is tiny. Doing it on the Panasonic unit is far more challenging, and another factor is the owner profiles. The experimentation market has always been primarily a hub motor one with the Panasonic unit bike market having a strong bias towards utility cycling. Any performance inclined crank drive types have more suitable crank unit options for their inclinations.
