May 16, 201015 yr hi is it just me or is anyone else seeing loads and loads of electric bikes now? i am seeing them almost every other day now. i used to be the only person that had one. it must be something to do with halfords selling them?
May 17, 201015 yr In southampton i also see more electric bikes around lots of powacycles and powabykes not many kalkhoffs nigel.
May 17, 201015 yr I live in south London and I dont see any:( I saw one! 2 Saturdays ago, at around 8 in morning taking my motorhome down to Fords for a service. Near Thornton heath pond, it was a white bike maybe an Alien...anyone on here?
May 17, 201015 yr I see them on rare occasions and it's a while now since the last sighting. I have probably passed more but I see so many bikes that I only usually notice those overtaking me.

Hi. Up 'ere in't North we are firmly into the Victorian ethics of durability & reliability. I see a number of PowaBykes and PowaCycles pottering about most days. There's the odd Ebike and a rather strange device, no logo, which appeared to feature a bulky outboard motor clamped over the rear wheel. Most people with more money to spend seem to buy bling-ridden 4x4's. Still, that's Cheshire for you - the original county of 'them and us'! Happ-E-biking.
May 17, 201015 yr I saw one round here this morning passing Harrow & Wealdstone station - and so far they've been rarities. This one was what you might call a 'Flecc special' as it was a somewhat grubby 20" wheel job, rear hub drive, with the battery behind the down tube like a Wisper although I didn't spot the make - I was more taken by the medium-sized garden shed he appeared to be towing. May 17, 201015 yr None between Harlow and Hackney I have not seen any on my 33 mile round trip - Epping Forest is the ideal place for ebikes with its sweeping hills - 25 mph down hill, 19 mph on the flat and up the mild inclines (12mph if they are steep!) Lots of Lycra's though!
May 17, 201015 yr I have not seen any on my 33 mile round trip - Epping Forest is the ideal place for ebikes with its sweeping hills - 25 mph down hill, 19 mph on the flat and up the mild inclines (12mph if they are steep!) Lots of Lycra's though! The Epping area has long been a haunt of 'serious' cyclists - and motorcyclists too. There's a cafe in Thornwood Common (midway between Epping and Harlow, if you're not familiar with the area) which would be host to sometimes hundreds of cyclists at the weekend. My memories go back to the days when a serious (stereotype) middle-aged cyclist would be sporting a ginger beard, bobble hat and milk-bottle-bottom glasses..... The image has changed somewhat over the years! Oh, I almost forgot the hairy knobbly knees. Rog.
May 17, 201015 yr I'm in the suburban wilds of SW London and have only ever seen one other e-bike. I reckon it's because the people here are 100% honest down to earth god fearing folk for whom an electric bike is cheating. I know because one told me so recently.
May 17, 201015 yr Must be the south. I have seen one parked at walton station, but never seen it in use. Other than that i haven't seen any.
May 18, 201015 yr Over the last three weeks I've regularly seen a Kalkhoff (I think) coming down the A27 cycleway of a morning and evening. I've seen an old couple on their (what looks to be) PowerByke Shoppers. I've regularly seen a Powerbyke shopper parked up in Havant. I've not seen the Metro A2B for quite a long time now. Best regards. Vikki.
May 18, 201015 yr Since the new year I've seen a few eZee-like kitted bikes, a alien-type kited bike, an Optibike, a StealthFighter and a older crank driven / panasonic type. And my other e-bike of course: Riden by my significant other.
May 18, 201015 yr Seems to be concentrated mostly around South Central England? I've not seen that many recently but the weather hasn't been so good so maybe the e-bikes I saw last year will re-appear. in East Anglia they are also a much wider age range including younger people.
May 18, 201015 yr I live in Cambridge which is pretty flat. That said I do notice at least one or two a week as I commute to work. Maybe I am more "tuned in" so its not that they have grown in numbers, more that I just notice them now Regards Jerry
May 18, 201015 yr someone I know from another forum has mentioned seeing loads in Cambridge. They do however have ETS based in their town and a lot of cyclists anyway.
May 18, 201015 yr Not many around here either, just people moaning about the price of fuel. Makes a change from e-bikers moaning about the cost of batteries
May 18, 201015 yr It's funny you should raise the subject because I haven't seen any in my area (North of Nottingham) but the other week I spotted three over a period of a few days. Even more surprising was when I was pushing my bike home with a flat and a kid of about 12 years old shouted out with great certainty that I was pushing an electric bike and wanted to know how fast I could do 0 to 60. Cheeky but knowledgeable for a 12 year old I thought.
May 18, 201015 yr I have been commuting into central London from SW London for the last 6 years and in all that time I had only seen 1 other electric bike until very recently. I saw another Giant Lafree about 3 years ago, but in the last 6 weeks or so I have seen 2 hub motor bikes. Not sure what as they were both moving. One was moving so fast that it must have been seriously illegal or ridden by someone so fit it would be illogical for him to own an electric bike. I am surprised how few I have seen though as the saving on public transport would cover the cost of most ebikes within 1 year.
May 19, 201015 yr I don`t see anything around the lanes other than the odd hare or barn owl and of course they don`t ride bikes:D
May 19, 201015 yr and a couple of Dingoes down here in OZ Old Timer... OT but I found the whole wisper / ezee slap up a bit unedifying
May 19, 201015 yr Alien bike on the way to work today at Westminster (traffic lights). Looked a neat bike actually and quite descrete. I have also seen a few Wisper bikes riding down the road here.
May 19, 201015 yr wow i see them evey day and was over took by one this thing was on the move when i got to the rail crossing where we had to stop he was on powered bicycle and the modle was a MANTRA he said it was brill and would not change it i even got a web adress check out Powered and Electric Bikes Largest Range In UK
May 19, 201015 yr Walked along to my local pub at mid-day last week, had a couple of pints and on the way back spotted 2 ezee bikes. The owners were sat nearby, 2 middle aged ladies enjoying a take away sandwich. Apart from my bike, these are the first e-bikes I've seen in Stockbridge on the main A30. -----John.
May 19, 201015 yr i'm seeing loads of electric bikes now! It used to be pink elephants in the old days, how times change. Cheers, (hic) .
