Hi all im a newbie (surprise) and im looking at purchasing my first e-bike i say first i do have a hopper shopper from tesco i got as a gift from the wife and that is why im now looking for something bigger and better. Im 6ft tall and 15 stone and have third stage kidney disease so i cant really ride a normal un powered bike as i just get far to tired hence the reason for the hopper shopper as it got me the 3 miles to town and back with relative ease but on the way to town there are two short rather steep hills and one long one not so much steep as it is a long incline and because of the lack of gears it gets a little tiring when i get to town im fubar for a few mins until i get my second wind so started my research on full size e-bikes. The choices are immense and most of the jargon means nothing to me as im not really a gadget type of person. Ive looked at lots and asked questions to most companies but i always feel like im being sold their product rather than getting the bike suitable for me. I know you get what you pay for so im not expecting to get a top of the range £5000 bike with a tiny budget just a bike that can take me to town and home and maybe a jolly around the local parks and canal tow paths. I like the look of the kudos cobra etc and the vita uno style bike as they look like ordinary mountain bike without massive batteries on rear carriers but it would be nice if i could have a throttle too just so if i do get tired going up long inclines i can rest my legs without having to stop and start off on a hill again. I have a maximum budget of £1100 so like i said not expecting a great deal but good customer service would be helpful or a warranty that delivers what it says it will. Im ok with fixing the ordinary parts of the bike like wheels, cranks, bottom brackets etc but the motors and electronics baffles me and thats the parts i would need the warranty to cover if possible. So i know its a question you have been asked a million times but if you can point me in the right direction that would be all i need

The burisch looks great but how can they make them so cheaply when they look that good? Has any member ever had dealings with them? They look to good to be true with lock outs etc

Some members bought them a little while ago when they first came out and I've seen little negative about them.

This search link in the forum shows posts on the Burisch subject over a long period, so a browse though those 10 pages of posts should tell you a lot.

The Burisch will probably be a bit weak for you. I would recommend one with a high-torque motor. The nearest equivalent is the Kudos Tornado.

You should certainly take a test ride.
Many of our retailers stock other brands and our own shops in the Peak District also now stock Raleigh and Haibikes.
This should open your eyes!

Oh yes I shall ride before I buy I don't want to buy without testing to make sure it's the right one for me

Welcome Scott.

There's a lot of good advice on here and I get your point about sellers trying to sell you something rather than what is right for you.

This is not a dealer free zone although much of the advice is well considered. Some of it not in my short experience.

Spend your time and read the forums. You'll quickly figure out the people worth listening to on here. You've already met two of them and i'm not counting me as I am a relative newbee myself.

Take your time and get what is right for you. I suspect that's possible within your budget.

I agree with d8veh, a bike with a high torque hub motor would be ideal for your needs. They offer a lot of umph for hills and can be ridden on throttle alone.

The hub motor bikes from Woosh e.g. the Big Bear, or any of the Ezee bikes would fit the bill. The Kudos Tornado would be another option but bear in mind that it doesn't have a full throttle it only has a walk assist throttle.

Kevin at Leek Cycle solutions is a Raleigh and Kudos dealer. He is a good guy and can give you good advice.
He has sold a number of Kudos Tornado e-bikes for riders who need a lot of help up the steep Peak District hills,we did a road show on the Manifold Trail so know those climbs well.

I shall pay him a visit and see what he suggests is available for my needs. Always best to see the vendor face to face I think to see what the customer service would be like after the sale. Thank you for the advice and for taking the time to reply.
