Most of the above posters are or have been correct. Marathon Pluses used to contain a Kevlar belt but that was discontinued and they moved to 5mm thick rubber about ten years ago, something to do with environmental concerns of waste Kevlar tyres I believe.

So today's Marathon Pluses don't contain Kevlar but are still regarded as pretty bombproof. I have no idea if they are better for it or not since I bought mine 10 years ago so don't know if they are Kevlar or rubber, but they are still going strong and I haven't had a single puncture during all that time. Hard as nails to ride on is the main disadvantage I feel - they must be about the closest thing to solid rubber tyres that still requires a pump.

I also use Slime, no idea if that's helped but when it comes to punctures on a commuting bike I take a belt and braces approach.
