Yep,

I ventured out on the bike again today, and just can't get excited by it.

I completed a route that I regularly ride on the BH that has a good mix of down hill, flat, long steady climbs. a 19% one mile climb, and 14% half mile long climb. The overall distance is approx. 15-17miles.
I rode the bike in turbo from the off, and the bike came back with just under three quarters of battery life left, which I felt was quite amazing given how hard that I was riding.

I've ridden the two nasty hills three times on this bike, and each time I have been and average of 4mph an hour slower than on the BH with it's hub drive and on a couple of points of the climb, the speed had nearly halved. The hub drive system just feels so more relaxed and chilled to ride.
I'm not knocking the Bosch system in anyway, as it is a superbly efficient system, but give me a long steep climb, and I'd opt for my hub drive everytime. :)

On a long ride though, I'd feel more confident and at ease about being able to get back home again using the Bosch system though.

I guess that each system has it's plus and minus points, and things aren't really helped by the fact that my heart remains firmly fixed on off road bikes.

Cheers Eddie. That 3/4 of battery left is amazing. Mine uses all 400 w/h in 17 miles. Although I believe Bosch batteries don't go as far depleted as some.
I'm very happy with my bike, but I've nothing to compare it against other than a Cyclamatic.

I'd be nice to try another bike one day.

The word 'exciting' and 'Bosch' don't go together.

Dependable, easy to live with, capable are better descriptions.

I went out on the Brommie this morning and there's no doubt its hub drive and throttle is more fun than my Rose.

Not so handy on longer rides and not a natural cycling experience, both of which the Rose is.

Nice to have both bikes to ride.

Perhaps the ideal for one bike would be a well-sorted crank drive with a smooth controller, and a throttle.
