postage

In fact any ideas on how I can keep the postage down?
My tyres came in a huge box which I felt was unneccessary really considering the volume.
They are not foldable tyres I guess so are difficult from a P + P view.
I should be a dab hand at packing as I sell on ebay from time to time but am afraid the tyres have stumped me somewhat
Cheers

Some firms send them out in large very heavy duty white polythene bags. If you have a plastic bag supplier locally, 500 gauge bags will do the job, and that keeps the postal cost low.

Thanks Flecc
That does sound like a great idea and I have a storage unit and supplier of packing materials just a couple of minutes away on the bike.
I will check it out and get them ready for posting and have them weighed before I sell them.
If it is too much I guess I could approach a local courier?

They'd only be about 2 kilos with the bag probably.

That can go any post type, I've just sent a 6 kilo battery by First Class post, £11.02. Parcel post would have been over £9 for that.

Two kilos costs £6.40 for First Class next day delivery, £4.20 for parcel Post with about three days delivery.

Mandy,

I bought a couple of brand new M+s from eBay a couple of months ago to keep in reserve for my Agattu. They were brand new and unused from a private seller who had bought them in error. I got the pair for £30 cash on collection as they were not too far away and I wanted to inspect them before payment.
The seller was asking £5 for delivery. Hopefully that will give you some idea of what to charge and you could also stipulate collection only if you don't want to post.
I might have bought them myself for my Wisper, but I have just ordered a pair of Continentals for £29.98 including delivery.

Another 'puncture resistant' tyre that might be worth considering is the Vittoria Randonneur Pro which I believe has a good reputation amongst courier riders. Don't think there's much in it terms of price beteween them and the Conti's though.

I bought some tyres recently by post (normal, not folding type) and they were were twisted into a figure of eight and then folded making them half the diameter. Might make postage cheaper.

Hi John
I agree with cash on collection but could be somewhat restricted with buyers but am prepared to let them go cheaply for someone who wants them.
I am a bugger for P + P and will only charge the cost almost exactly as have been ripped off on ebay. I have made more money on ebay selling to the US by keeping the price down for P + P so more profit overall. But kind of a different product, lol!
I have collected recycle bubble wrap, poly chips, boxes etc of which I have loads but unfortunately will not help me in this case :)

me thinks those continentals are the one's I am after if they are the one's from a previous thread? :D

I will have them packed up priced and post them for sale here first for other users that may be interested? Cut down on ebay, paypal fees

Good idea John
I will use all the ideas and see how cheap they can be posted for?
Well it may be interesting?
Mind you I normally post recorded even abroad on certain items but I believe 1st class will provide you with a tracking number anyway?

Tracking service is slower though.

First Class delivery aim is next day, Tracked service is the day after that, presumably to allow time for the tracking entry operations.
