I can remember doing this as my weekend job when i was 16 (now 49), I used to work in B E Browns Motorcycles in Northam Road, Southamton, they were famous for importing all the old Russian motorBikes. Alas they are no more.....Thanks for the memories Flecc!
Ah yes, those Russian flat twins, I remember the Ural well. I liked the version with a sidecar and machine gun mount and thought it a pity the machine gun was never included. Would have been handy in coping with some of today's car drivers!

Thanks Frank, F2 Motorcycles could always be relied on to supply oddball stuff!

They used to handle the odd e-bike around about 2003, and odd it really was. A frail low powered imitation of the Currie side mounted rear motor on a shopper style bike, with only about 100 watts for about £400, too dear at the time. Thompson's e-bikes soon kicked it out of that market segment.

It may be the recommended method Flecc....but just reading that reduces me to a state of hysteria.......thankfully, as I live alone, if I ever did try it (no chance !) at least I wouldnt have to worry about being divorced.....every cloud, as they say.... :D

Lynda :)
Great to have your support Lynda; the method I described at least had the element of fun! I never knowingly started a house fire - well, not a serious one!
The Russian motor bikes - Urals? - do have an attraction for the elderly - a third wheel + sidecar for essential baggage (splints, crutches & cake). I tried one once - the handling was counter-intuitive for any one who can ride a two-wheeler!

Since I have been Ebiking with my Bearprint I use GT85 sprayed onto the chain while rotating the pedals and then wiping off the excess/grunge with a folded pad of kitchen towel paper.
This is needed more often at this time of year because of the wet and gritted salted roads.
I am still using my original chain after about 6500 miles since October 2010 and sometimes I look at it and see rust or the links sort of jam up - this tells me to do the above immediately!?!
The GT85 spray was recommended to me by the young chap at Halfords and seems to be a good all purpose lubricant and rust preventer.
I also use Muc Off to clean my Bike which you might like funkylyn as it is bright pink! This also does a very good job.

Barry.
