Hi everyone,
I am having problems with a powabyke euro model, have traced the fault to the hub, power in but no go. has anyone ever taken one of these apart please, if so could you please tell me how to, what screws etc to take out. i believe may hopefully just mean broken connection inside hub. thanks for looking here. hope someone can come to my rescue.

Those things are buggers to take apart (assuming it's the brushed variety). When I had my PowaByke I took mine apart twice to check brush length and change lubricant (about 1500 and 3000 miles, plenty of brush left at 3000 miles).

I don't have the bike anymore but it involved removing the screws holding the lid on and then tapping a thin screwdirver blade into the gap in two places and then tapping around the circumference with thicker bladed screwdrivers and walking the lid off of the central shaft. It takes a bit of time and you want to do it fairly evenly. It's a tight fit. The lid is the opposite side to where the wires go in. It's not too hard to dismantle once the lid is off. I can't recall now if the inner screws had to be removed.

Be warned, they use threadlock and those screws can be hard to get out and you risk ruining the heads if you don't have enough downward pressure on the screwdriver. I also believe there is a video on youtube or somewhere where a guy shows how to take the lid off. Do a search, it's out there somewhere because it's what gave me the clue on how to open mine.

I hope that is of some help as I don't have the motor to check my memory against.

Best regards.

Vikki.
