Because I only just got 'round to extracting the footage from my helmet cam, I thought I'd share. This is a bit of my ride over the South Downs a couple of weeks ago, not SDW but a bit more off the beaten track. No real research into the route, just following my nose and good old OS mapping. I found myself staying off road as best I could and mostly single track byways and farm tracks (mostly ROWs) with some back lanes.
The weather was OK but there had been a lot of rain in the preceding days so large areas of standing water...
This where I had to get onto the side of the track and jump over a ditch which I lost my footing slightly and had to scrabble to keep from going over and falling into the ditch. A very muddy and slippery ride, especially on the wet chalk tracks.
I didn't meet many other cyclists until I got on to a bit of the SDW proper and I met with an arrogant tw*t who insisted on riding on the right hand (wrong) side of the track (in this country we drive on the left, right?) meaning a close call for a collision, I conceded to avoid contact. Video of that incident to follow if I can recover it.

I took the Macina Race out for a little off road jaunt this evening, and just for a change, it was lovely being out with a bit of daylight still remaining. :)

I really can't believe just how fast and agile that this bike is, and how well that it handles. Most of my evening ride routes around here see you spending a lot time, at speed cross rutted. I was busy grinning to myself about obscenely quick that things were going, when the next second I was over the bars and face planted into the bracken. The lesson of the evening was that whilst the Rocket Rons were coping well, they certainly don't afford the same cross rutting side tread grip that the Hutchinson DZO tyres do.

I also fitted the Rockshox Stealth dropper post last night, and that is the end of the mods for this bike. It requires nothing more. :)

So there you have it Phill, not only has the bike now had it's baptism in mud, it has also spat me off. Roll on tomorrow nights ride. :)

Hopefully you won't need read them again. :)

It did leave me with very mixed feelings about having a peak on the front of the helmet.
The peak dug into the ground and jarred my neck. As far as I'm concerned, it should have just ripped off, but didn't. I'm now thinking that I might just remove it altogether.

depends which 1 that you wanted im sure if you need a extra wire going through the frame you could make the hole bigger? mine has a plastic cover where the wires come out.

also with the stealth the bleed port is at the bottom so make sure you can thread the hose through the frame easy or the motor will need to be removed as mine is at the top.

You really do need to research before posting.

The Stealth is bleed at the remote on the handlebars, and if you decide to remove the seat post at any time, you just pull the hose back through the frame slightly, and release the snap connector on the base of the post.

I have had a lot of joy from the Thomson Droppers, but even though the Haibike AMT Pro originally had internal cabling I actually got the Thomson with the external control cable. It has never been a problem and gets lost amongst the brake cables. I replaced both Crank Bros droppers with Thomsons and I just love the quality of their engineering.

Eddie, and anyone else who is now rolling on the Bosch Performance CX with 500 Wh batteries, did you just get the old charger that says 300Wh or 400Wh only on it? I would like a faster way of charging and one normally increases power output with battery capacity.

Fab ride out today mainly to find new trails/bridleways. A mixture of dryish conditions although some trails are very muddy and some were like riding though swamps, headed out to Rusper and beyond to Slinfold and west of Horsham. 57 miles covered today and the new Lidl trekking saddle was even better today as I made a slight adjustment to the seat angle and the comfort was awesome, not even an iota of bum ache or discomfort.

A bridleway led me to a manor house and its murky lake nr Warnham, a small waterfall/inlet seem heaven for these wild carp, I guess fresh nutrients were the attraction.
