One of my mates that I ride with regularly decided to take his girlfriend out for an mtb ride this morning.

Not sure if it was intentional to put off ever coming out riding again though. :D

No reference intended to this lady but I have noticed a few couples out and about on bikes ... interestingly the male is often on a decent quality bike with his female partner on a halfords special or similar heavy lump of meatal. The imballance being glaringly obvious

And rightly so. ;)

Some of the girls that I see riding on the South Downs have some lovely bits of kit though. They are usually pretty fast with it as well.

Ref the photo above, I was going to ride there this week, but for some strange reason have now decided to give it a miss.

Funny that you should say that, as that was also going through my head whilst I typed it.

Sometimes it's a real struggle to bring myself to overtake, and often I think it very inconsiderate of me to do so, and will just amble along behind. :D
Now we are getting to the bottom of this conversation...[emoji41]

As we have said before there is some nice scenery on the downs ;).

Our rear shocks get seized up with gritty mud too SW (including all the front fork adjustments too)...you need to take it off and clean the area, putting WD in there will only create a "cutting compound" that will wear surfaces too...I used a MuttsNutz front guard on the rear and my shock/linkages,etc never get a spot of mud on them...here's a pic to show it (ignore the other massive mudguards lol, we ride all year round and have to walk into country pubs for a meal whilst we're out)...

I've used the MuckyNutz ones on a few of our bikes, both front and back and they work well...I'm working on getting a supplier for sheet Impact-Proof Plastic so I can just cut my own shapes and fab my own motor covers for our BBS's too.

you cant take off the ctd switch as you will never get it back on so can only be done when fully serviced.

be a while b4 i will fork out for that as all seals ect ok but that should stop any more getting in there.

Like the idea of the bbs guards/covers. Keen to see pics as they develop. 3 takers here [emoji3]

SW...you need to clean that sock after every ride if you don't run an enduro-style rear guard like my previous post. It will collect grit/sand and transfer it to the shock-shaft, I've run bikes with/without socks for years and now prefer to "guard-up" rather than chuck shocks after 200 mile with sandpaper on the Kashima coat from gritty socks!

I'll have a look on the Haibike tomorrow, but the Fox service page says you can remove and refit it with just an Allen key? On the 2014 CTD fitted to my S-Works, I removed all the adjusters including the red rebound dial (to rectify the same fault as yours) when I did an Air-can service on it and the only hard part was not loosing the minute detent bearings lol
