Hi all. New to the forum and looking to set up an electric kit on my Voodoo Wanga. Its the older steel frame and fun to ride so I thought it would make a good donor bike. It is however a heavy bike and I don't get much joy trying to get up the hills.

We like to take our rottweiler out bike jouring where she pulls hubby and his bike around the countryside. The trouble is they go at such a pace that I struggle to keep up.. electric bike is the answer!

Just about any kit will work on that bike. Go for it.

Easy kit to fit is the BBS01B, from Woosh, Brighton e bikes or Eclipse bikes and others.

Oxydrive kits are a very good choice with front or rear hub, the SWX02 high torque cst kit is on offer currently at £525.

Or from EM3EV in HK the 36v BBS02B laser marked as 250W can be reprogrammed with a programming lead up to 25amps for more torque and power.

Panda ebikes also do a variety of kits and what looks like a rebadged BBS01 kit.

I did try letting her pull my bike but shes crazy and doesn't see the need to slow down on corners. I ended up flat on my face...three times!

I was concerned with it being a mans bike but to be honest I'm quite tall for a woman and the frame is only a 17.
I've tried to do more research on the bike but as it is quite old I can't be 100% sure that its steel. I hope it is as they seem to make great ebikes!

Here is my bike. I bought it second hand a few years ago. The seller said it was a steel frame. Looking at the components on the bike I believe it to be this one..

I really struggle to get up hills but hey i'm fairly new to this biking malarky, hopefully an e-kit will let me get to the top of hills without my lungs bursting

holy crap the forks are on the wrong way round

It's perfect apart from the forks facing the wrong way. Loosen of the stem clamp and spin the bars through 180 degrees, retighten the clamp.

it looks like aluminioum to me. test it with a magnet. A magnet will stick to steel but not aluminium It doesn't matter either way what it's made of.

Those old steel frames (with nice thin tubes) are great for ebike conversions. They have a bit more 'give' than alloy, so are very comfy.

Not to be confused with modern, fat tubed steel frames which are all about looking like alloy. Normally sold by the kind of shop that can't tell which way around the forks go on!

Thank you Alan. It is a comfortable bike and it makes me smile. I'm not a good cyclist as you can tell I am looking forward to getting this electric kit fitted... and the forks turned around!

I think i've dropped lucky with the bike. I bought it locally for a couple of hundred years ago but now doing my research it seems to be a pretty good bike!

I had been thinking how could it happen? So the only time the bike has been altered is when it went in for a service. I was also having problems with the gears changing by themselves as I was riding. When it came back it really wasn't much better and then I got a nice hybrid so the Voodoo got stuck in the shed and not touched again.
Its only now as I want a bike to electrify that its come out of the shed. I've been out on it a couple of times just to make sure everything works fine... Im glad it was dark so no one saw me looking foolish!

So either I bought it with the forks back to front and it wasn't noticed when it was serviced, or the store put them on wrong. But to be honest that is unlikely as they had no reason to touch them. Its a mystery.

Hi, yes we've been watching your videos. Brilliant! The one where your dog sees a squirrel and then ignores it is fantastic. Our dog would simply smash us into a tree!

We started the bikejor out of needing a way to exercise the rottie. She is a rescued street dog and hates any other dog (she was only about four-six months old when rescued so its likely she left the mother way too soon to learn socialising) She does free run very well but we cant take the risk of seeing another dog or she will be off to give it a beating. So all our bike trips tend to be late at night.

We are just beginning to teach her commands etc.

I agree. It's not a risk that you can take if they're a bit dog aggressive. Best to keep her tethered to the bike then. You'll do fine on an ebike, and probably wonder why you didn't come up with the solution sooner.

As for dodging squirrels, there are bigger things to worry about out there.

Here's me and my youngest daughter, when we tested our new kitbike out. Pedelecking is a breeze.

If that had been me I would have moved my dog away to give you safe pass through. Some people really have no idea. One of the the reasons we cycle in the dark is to avoid them. We once had a guy who's dog came up running at our rottie and obviously excited, it tried jumping on her, the owner shouted over that his dog was fine.. I shouted back, mine isn't! Luckily when she is harnessed to the bike she feels she has a 'job' and doesn't react as much.

Great videos, I really can't wait now. Hopefully next weekend my kit will be on!

PS lol at hilly billy devil dog... I think she looks quite feminine in her hat
