If you describe in detail what help you need, with pictures where relevant, someone here can probably help you!

Thanks to you for replies, the bike goes very well but Eskute aren't very helpful with problems .There is play in the crank rotational and lateral. It's more rotational 3 or 4 mm maybe and 2mm lateral. I'm totally naive to ebike motors and don't know if it's normal or not. The crank and pedals are very cheap, I thought perhaps they were exacerbating the problem but being honest I'm lost on it. Thanking you all Kindly R.

I have a Bafang M400 on one of my bikes, maybe 3 years old now with quite a few miles on it and trouble-free from new. That sort of play doesn't sound at all right to me. Eskute offer a 15-day return policy and a 2 year warranty thereafter. How old is your bike? Can you return/exchange it? What do Eskute Customer Support have to say?

They say its normal and offered a small amount of money in compensation . The bike has other problems too From what I gather one person deals with all UK enquiries. They basically try to cheaply buy their way out of the guarantee. My bike 5 or 6 weeks old but I've been at them for probably 4 weeks I'd need to check. The bike has covered 30 miles. It's a budget bike I understand but regardless you expect a guarantee to be honoured. It was bought on the strength of the motor mainly. I won't leave it.The company is Chinese and registered to a toy shop in London. I would say to anyone don't buy Eskute!

If you feel you've reached an impasse, I think it might be a good idea to take your bike to a local e-bike shop and ask them to comment and document the problems and a cost to fix them. You may need to pay the shop for their time, but it gives you documented evidence of the faults from an independent arbiter.

The faults may in any case be easy/cheap to fix. When you buy any "bike in a box", the buyer is expected to make final checks and adjustments which a local bike shop would usually do if you'd bought through them.

If the issues are more serious though and Eskute don't then take responsibility, you have a good strong case, especially as the bike is new. There my be easy(ish) ways to resolve the issues depending on how you bought the bike; eg: Amazon/Paypal offer dispute resolution, or if you paid by Credit Card (and some Bank Debit cards), you can claim under Section 75 etc.

Two simple things that occured to me that you might want to double-check first if you haven't already:

1) Check you've put your pedals on the right way around (they're marked L & R) otherwise they'll work themselves loose (happened to a friend who described similar issues to you before one actually fell off whilst he was riding and crashed his expensive Bosch bike)

2) Check the crank bolts are secured with lock-thread and tightened up properly. A member here with a Bafang mid-drive had this issue some years ago. If you've been riding with loose bolts, the crank-arms may by now be damaged/rounded off, which will certainly give the effects you describe.

Certainly important to get them the right way round, but the threads are different (anticlockwise for left pedal). If you put them on the wrong way round you'd either hardly screw them in at all and they'd fall off almost immediately, or you'd strip the thread trying to screw then in further. In the second case you might have to replace the cranks and/or pedals.

Thanks bud, no sadly its not the pedals I was know its an easy mistake to make but I have experience of push bikes and motor bikes and have assembled many bmxs and trials push bikes for my son. Bafang said the rotational play was normal then I noticed the spindle / spline /crankshaft I'm not sure what it's called on a ebike motor was moving side to side. Eskute have no support or answers they just offer pitiful money. They are a sham. I have reached an impasse for sure . I will have a think and also let you know my outcome. I'm very grateful for the input and information I've been given by members it's greatly appreciated. It's actually such a shame as the bike really goes well but I'm almost certain the movement in the crank will ultimately damage the motor Thanks R

id ask for a replacement motor or send it back for a full refund, but sounds like these guys are just box shifters and no warranty support.

this is the inside of my bosch motor so any movement like you have is not normal.

Thanks for taking the time to show me these pictures and give info. I checked the crank set tonight it's moving side to side I it feels abnormal to me. I agree totally they are 100 % box shifting with no guarantee, you have hit the nail on the head . Any problems are met with silly offers ranging from phone ne covers on Amazon!!! to small sums of money. Nowhere do they offer repair and or replacement parts . The battery is also loose and clunks going down the road initially I thought it was the forks. When I complained about the battery they said, maybe there's a problem with the battery bolt. We will send a bolt. There are multiple bolts in the battery housing and the clip is loose. I'm going to go return the bike as they are failing to meet the terms of sale. I'd encourage anyone looking at Eskute to look elsewhere. My experience has been very unpleasant. Thank you for your help and to all who have replied Thanks R

Remember the basics of consumer rights in the UK: 'not fit for purpose', and lawyers would have other terms, you can 'reject' the goods, which is a word with specific legal meaning, which I think effectively cancels the contract of the purchase transaction.

If you bought from a UK business then you have extensive rights, and Citizens advice bureau, local Trading Standards office and small claims court should be your friends.

Good luck.

Yes thanks I'm familiar with "not fit for purpose" myself, it's very much a key phrase as you rightly pointed out. The bike was defective and not fit for purpose in my case. It will play out. I will post up the outcome in detail Once again thanks to yourself Matthew and all others who have aided me with this issue. My experience with this forum has been extremely positive and helpful. Many thanks R.

Hi, Greetings! Bafang M200 mid is a powerful motor, and since it's nearly maintenance-free as far as I know. If you describe what exactly help you needed then It's better to understand .

There is i rotational play in the crank 2 or 3mm before chainset engages also lateral play the spindle moves around 1 or 2mm very hard to tell exact movements by hand and eye but there is definitely play. Yes the motors powerful but I'm afraid to use it in case of damage. Cheers R

Do you have photos showing what you mean? I haven't seen anyone else on this forum with an M200, and don't own one myself, therefore have no idea if the play rotationally or laterally are likely signs of a poorly constructed or faulty motor... but the measurements you describe (2 to 3mm rotational, 1mm lateral) don't seem to me (I may be completely wrong) to be great enough to cause problems, because it's a PAS motor, and the forces that a rider is likely to exert on internal gearwheels (it might be just one, it is on my Bafang BBS01b) with 2 to 3mm rotational play, might not be problematic? If the internal gears are ill fitting where the motor provides assistance (if there are any gears at that point - we could do with a schematic), that would be worrying, because the motor would probably be exerting higher torque. But it's your money and if you're unhappy overall with your purchase, you should be able to get a satisfactory result. As regards the battery - are you sure it's the clip (what is the clip and what does it do? Do you have a photo?) and not the battery pack bouncing about within the battery case? Sometimes the padding is insufficient, it certainly is inside my battery case, which clonks as I bounce over the deeper potholes (it isn't the bolts holding the battery case to the bike that are loose), I keep meaning to add to it.

I'm sure if any of the above is completely incorrect, one of the motor experts will correct me.

There shouldn't be any lateral play at all. Maybe they've left something out? It's a puzzle, and I wish I knew more about it all to help. I do hope you get the situation sorted out, one way or another.

Guerney- thanks for all the advice I have decided the bike must go for a check to a specialist regarding the above matters . I am getting so many varied opinions everywhere re the motor not this forum but on Facebook owners club Eskute Bafang guy all saying different things. I t's very hard to measure by eye and even more difficult to video one one handed and illustrate. It could be as simple as the crank arm not being fully tightened idk . I have never encountered an e motor.
Recently Eskute been more helpful they are sending a new battery long lock tongue ? and offered to pay invoice for repairs and validate the warranty basically so one final go with Eskute then . They appear to have woken up.... I genuinely hope so.
If I get a satisfactory resolution i will post as full as possible an explanation so all members may see and any possible Bafang M200 owners may get a same information. We live in hope my friend. Once again thanks for all the input it's a great forum. I've had superb help ever since i posted Thanks to yourself and all who have contributed to the thread much appreciated.
