Hi,

My name's Nick. I'm not much of an ebike enthusiast but my parents are and they've experienced quite an amount of problems with their batteries.

At £500 a pop, I thought I'd do my best to give them a hand fixing them or converting them to a more reliable technology (currently Phylion prismatic cells).

currently Phylion prismatic cells.
I shudder every time I hear those words.

You don't have to pay £500 for replacement. £200 would be more like it. Which ones do you have?

One of the many XH370-10J (36V, 10 cells, 10 Ah).

Phylion's customer care told me the model my parents have was not a standard model from them but one they made at the request of the e-bike manufacturer with a specific casing. It's not available anywhere except from www.velys.fr for 549 € plus shipping.

Now, I could buy another XH370-10J (found a German supplier selling them for just a tad over 300 €, shipping included) and dismantle it to refurbish the Velys batteries.

But that's not a long term solution. If I'll do it, my parents certainly won't and I don't know if I'll be living in Poland or Argentina the next time they need battery maintenance. So, I'm playing a bit with the current cells to see how much I can revive them but I guess the real solution would be to adapt the bikes to make them compatible with other batteries (36 V 10 Ah LiFePO4 from www.bmsbattery.com for instance) so that they could order news ones for a decent price when necessary.

can you post a picture of this battery?
it may be easier to buy a new battery from Woosh for £200 and replace the pack inside.
You can get the mounting kit with controller box for this one for £15.

They look like this:

And their guts like this:

For me, yes. But, as said, I'd prefer to adapt the bikes with new rails and new connectors so that my parents can buy new batteries from www.bmsbattery.com and install them without dismantling anything.

that pack is dead easy to replace.Take 10 minutes.
You ask Hatti for the Sirocco 2, 10AH battery, it costs £200.
or ask for the Sirocco 2, 15AH battery, costs £300, same size.
Measure the size of your pack and tell her to check, just in case.
You won't save any money buying from bmsbattery after paying for transport.
check out http://wooshbikes.fr - woosh will start selling in France this year so can offer proper support and guarantee

Trex, I'm not looking for that sort of solution for the moment.
From BMS, two batteries would cost $400 + $100 (shipping), which seems ok as well.

have you forgotten import duty, clearance fee and VAT? if you buy the whole kit, you may save some money but if you only buy a battery, it's not cost effective.
