Hi I'm Blythe from Fife, Scotland. I'm looking to buy first e bike, have been impressed by grace easy gates belt drive for me, and freego regency for my wife. Any advice hints greatly appreciated

Have a look at the new dealer directory for dealers local to you and then go and try as many bicycles as you can:

You will asked to provide more details of you and your wife's requirements and proposed usage then you will hopefully get suggestions of what bicycles might suite those requirements from members and trade members with similar requirements.

I can't recommend anything to you myself but buying local and from the same stable would ensure good backup and after sales support so the two electric bicycles you have mentioned would fit that bill.

Depending on which part of the Kingdom you stay, there are places not to far from you where you can try electric bikes.

Welcome to the forum.

I also live in Fife. I have a Rose BionX bike and my wife has a Freego Eagle. As Cyclezee says there are a few ebike dealers within fairly easy reach however in this part of the country we're not too well off for places where you can try out properly different makes and models.

My wife and I are happy with our bikes and are looking forward to getting out on them again if and when the weather improves.

There's a lot of good advice to be had from various members and it might be worth your while doing as shemozzle999 suggests and start a new thread in "Which electric bike should I buy".

My ebike knowledge is tiny compared to the forum experts however if I can help at all just ask. I'd be happy to let you try our bikes (in good, dry weather conditions of course!)

Hiya, I'm from Gallowtown wife and I still work in Kirkcaldy, moving from roundabout city to coaltown of wemyss so not too many hills involved in commute we see e bikes as great opportunity to excercise and save cash.
Thanks for advice, don't like look of alien ocean but wouldn't rule anything out, have e mailed Edinburgh coop to see if demos available, will check out Dundee cheers Blythe

Pity you couldn't get to try an eZee bike, Milton Keynes, England's roundabout city is a bit of a journey and our nearest eZee owner to you is in East Lothian, although I have cousin in Edinburgh who is about to succumb to the power of electric.

My wife and I used to work at the Victoria Hospital many years ago and walked up Dunnikier Road which is a bit of a climb.

I bought the Rose direct from Rose Bikes, Germany. They were very good to deal with and when I had a minor problem with the bike they arranged its pick-up and return to and from Germany in just over a week, at no cost to me. It's not a bike for everyone but it's a very-well made machine with excellent components and I really like it. The BionX system delivers power smoothly and silently and suits me fine. I know the road from Wemyss to Kirkcaldy all too well having travelling it daily for years when working (now a distant memory I'm glad to say!) and I would think that most of the ebikes available from all suppliers would have little problem negotiating it.

The Freego Eagle is a nice bike. My wife is @ 5'4" and copes with it well with the seat at its lowest position. Like your wife she is not a keen cyclist but she does enjoy getting out on the ebike, especially on cycle tracks (not many in Fife unfortunately) and quiet back roads.

If you would like to see/try the bikes, PM me once the weather improves and we could arrange something. Meanwhile, if you can, try out as many different bikes as you can.
