Hello.

I am looking to get a electric motor kit for a bike for my elderly dad. He cycled everywhere until very recently, now he gets out of breath easily. He will be able to pedal on a good day but not uphill.

I have a few things the kit must have:
1) a digital backlit display
2) front and rear lights controllable from a switch or button (preferably on the same control unit as the motor controls)
3) the lights must be connected to the same battery as the motor
4) it must be as cheap as possible

Ones with the lights how you want them are not very common. It's not difficult to fit lights with their own switch. You can get good lights that run from the battery from Banggood.com in their motorcycle lights section. they also have a handlebar switch there.

To help with the kit, we need to see a photo of the donor bike.

It has a voltage out for lights so I could connect external lights using a relay...

Does anyone know what exact kit that is?

Donor bike is a Land Rover Zamora Z1 21 speed with 26 inch wheels. I need a front motorised wheel.

I had a load of controllers and displays exactly the same as that, which I sold to forum members. I bought them from Kevin fang (BTN on Aliexpress), but that was three years ago. They were really good, but I'd be surprised if you can still get them.

Can you give me a list of part names and i will try and find them? I know nithing about this, can i mix and match controllers, motors, and batteries? I mean is there an official standard? Or shluld i stick to a specific maufacturer? So confused

Yes, everything is modular. In the worse case you might have to change some connectors. There are some provisos. Motors come with and without hall sensors. If no hall sensors, you have to use a sensorless controller.

When you've chosen your stuff, make a list before buying, so we can check it for you.
