Hi im new to this site so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong forum I'm after a bit of advice I have a Carrera cross city (unfortunately) and when I came to use it the other day when I turn it on the battery light just stays on high power flashing on the handle bar and will not let me do anything else with it other than turn it off, the manual is useless when I rode it I couldn't tell if the pedal assist was working or not
any assistance would be appreciated thanks

Dumb Question, is the battery fully charged as far as you can tell? The pictures I find on the web show it as being a rear hub bike, with small (20"?) wheels.
So basically, whatever is wrong should be fixable by a reasonably competent DIYer, IMHO.
Do you own/use a multi meter? If yes, can you measure the actual battery voltage, and state the nominal battery voltage, which will probably, as in the online tech specs, this was not mentioned.
Generally speaking it will be either 24, 36 or 48 volts.
Once you have supplied this info, many here (not just me!) will be able to assist you further.

41.8v is fully charged and should be as near balanced as one can get, though you shouldn't leave it on the charge all the time. One should use it then only charge if the voltage is below 36v and raise it a couple of volts only, then fully charge a few hours before the next ride.
May be the battery is in a sleep mode, try long pressing the on/off button for 10 secs or more to see if it wakes up.
If you can't tell if the assist is working whilst riding then it probably isn't as you definitely should feel it & if not here the motor. You could try it at home with wheel off the ground and manually turning the cranks by hand with no wind or road noise you will here if it is assisting or not, turning the cranks fats enough you will hit the cut off speed of 25km/h.
