Hi

I've been through the forum postings (as there are quite a few on the S866) but I can't find a defnitive answer to my question, so I apologise if this feels repetative.

I have a Swifty Liberte and the controller packed up. so I ordered a Brainpower, which came with the s866, and a new PAS controller (12 mag). I also ordered a throttle.

Having replaced the components, I can get the throttle to work, but I cannot for the life of me get the PAS to work. is there a particular setting I need for it

My settings are presently as follows:

1 - 2
2 - 1
3 - 36
4 - 10
5 - 9
6 - 20
7 - 70 ???
8 - 100
9 - 0
10 - 2
11 - 12
12 - 3
13 - 12
14 - 0
15 - 29.5
16 - 3
17 - 0
18 - 100
19 - 0
20 - 0
21 - 0
22 - 0
23 - 0

thankyou in advance.

Is the PAS installed correctly ?
Try back pedal to see if it works.
Try P19/1 ?

9 levels of PAS is really too many, change P09 to mode1 for 5 levels.

Hi - Pas seems to be fitted OK / its not a PAS issue, I refitted the old one as it has an LED and that behaved as expected going fwd and backward

P19 - will try shortly, thank you

P14 is set to controller current 0, it should have a current/power rating value.
12 -15a is typical so use one of those values. 12 is usually the default setting.

P7 should be 1 or 6, depending on how many magnets in your speed sensor. If there's no speed sensor in your motor, you should fit an external one, then set P7=1 to fetch the speed correct on the LCD.

Only P10 affects the pedal assist function. You have it set correctly.

Why do you guys always buy stupid 12 magnet pedal sensors that you can never get to work? Just get an ordinary 5, 8 or 10 magnet one, connect the three wires in the correct sequence, install the disc the correct way up to operate (don’t go by the arrow),and it'll be fine.

will try these, I simply bought a 12 to replace the 12 it had thinking that may be broken, but i've ordered a 10 anyway. thx

The KT is a bit more dearer and works better imv , I would never fit ot advise fitting a brainpower over a KT.

Have you tried P14 ?
As the 0 value listed is wrong and would mean the current is set for 0 power output, however as the throttle works it may not be the case.

this didn't work, but I will look into an external speed sensor (though when P7=1 it is regsitering a speed, deos that mean anything?)

Yes , it means the hub has an internal speed sensor so a an external on eisn't needed . If the speed registered seems within normal the normal range 0 -15.5mph/25kmh then value 1 is fine .

What type of connection is used for the PAS ?
Moulded yellow type or sm block ?

I think you're misunderstanding something. I wasn't suggesting that P7 would fix your PAS issue. Your setting of 70 was incorrect and needed to be put right if you want the LCD to display speed and distance correctly.

Hi all - pleased to saythat the new 10 magnet PAS arrived, fitted it, changed the setting to 10 and it worked straight away. not sure it's recording the speed correctly but I can work that out.

Also - thankyou for your responses and so quickly too. A lot of the times you can find forums full of some rather unpleasant people but you have all gone out of your way to be helpful. for that I am very grateful.

Well done for persevering, certainly not the first or last time we here of 12 pole PAS being a waste of time.
10 always works for me .
