Help wanted from Ebiker living in Telford

Hi everyone

This post is related to one of my earlier posts in this section called "Is my Wisper faulty"

Should you of read that post you will see that I have problems peddling the bike on the flat without any power on.

The solution I have been offered by Wisper is to ring them on Monday with a view to a swap out of parts,

Never having had an e bike before and not ridden a normal bike in the last 30 years I want to make certain that. my findings are not the norm for an e bike before I put everyone through so much trouble

So I am looking for a kind hearted ebiker living in Telford who is prepared to give up 10 minutes of their time to ride my bike around the block by their house, on the flat without power, to either agree with me that the bike needs attention, or say that that's just the way ebikes are.

I don't know any difference but perhaps an experienced ebiker will.

If I am not allowed to ask such a request then I apologise, but I am desperate to do this

Check the gap between the brake pads and the rotor at the rear wheel for binding. You need about a millimetre gap on each side. Check also for binding between the largest rear cog and the motor shell.

Alan I'm sure Wisper will sort out the cause of your issue. Claude and David are very experienced.
It does sound like there is a problem in your motor making it perform like a generator - a short somewhere perhaps.
But don't worry about asking for their support. They are very reputable and will be happy to help.

I second pming d8veh in Telford, ususally very helpful and knowledgable guy who will help out if he is around. Not a lot he doesn't know with e bikes probably knows more then the whole forum put together barring a couple of individuals.

But did'nt D8veh flounce off in huff, denouncing this forumn? He does seem like a good egg ,met him briefly.

I didn't know that. We did have some trolls here a couple of months ago. I think one if them was particularly rude to him. I hope he comes back, he is a font of knowledge.

I've got the 705 Torque which is the same as yours other than the frame. I can pedal it with the assistance level set to zero well up the gear range so it's not "just the way ebikes are". Decent after-sales service is one of the reasons to buy a reputable brand so don't hesitate to do as David suggests and talk it through with Claude so you can get it sorted and be back on the road, enjoying the bike.

It's not the first time he's taken the cream puff, so he may be back.

Later on the thread also sees the departure of Cyclezee, so that's two for the price of one.

Not that it matters what I think, but both would be welcome back in my opinion.

He got fed up with the bitching ,point scoring attitude and the unfriendliness that reared its ugly head. Also a few holier then thou souls were trying to put down the homebuild side of bikes on here, sadly some couldn't live and let live so for now d8veh is on ES where he has been and still is prolific poster.

Just to finish the story. His rear brake was binding. Maybe the caliper took a knock at some time or something like that. I loosened the two caliper screws, held the brake on and retightened the screws, which fixed it in less than a minute.

I had a ride around the carpark and up a few steep hills. Apart from it's looks, which are not quite my cup of tea, I thought it was a fantastic bike. Plenty of power and totally silent motor.

Also, his throttle has been reset to normal operation instead of maximum 6 km/h because OP is recovering from heart problems.
