I soldered the white wire onto that point on the board and it's all working again. I guess it was already weakened in assembly and a bit of jostling around when riding must have caused it to snap off. Many thanks for helping me with this!

Another satisfied forumite, it is surprising how many we help .
Practically anything slightly technical with oem non middrive bikes is solved via forums like this, LBS have no skill or knowledge of basic stuff and need a pc to plug in to tell them what is wrong.
Have to admit some of us would be very rich if we were a business but that means working 9-5 for a living and I get lttle enjoyment in working for a living.
