Thanks for the info. Just looked at the nidd and read the good review. Do you spend a lot of time in the saddle? And do you wear cycling shorts/padded?

Could look good on my all black build im working on :)

A couple of hours on a ride usually. I don’t potter around all day on it. I do wear proper cycling shorts under rugby shorts in the summer and padded long cycling trousers in winter.

It took about 300 miles to break it in and now its very comfortable. If you don’t want to wear cycling shorts you can buy padded MB shorts and padded underwear. I wouldn’t ride without some padding and haven’t for many years.

I'm a rower, padded underwear is for sissies... :p Seriously, I have a friend who puts foam on his skiff seats and rowing his boats puts my bum to sleep.

The saddle I showed above has some padding but on a bike you are changing position much more than in a skiff. I like the sensation of gel but only because I am always moving around. The padding/gel should be on the seat not in your pants! What next? Whole arm and leg hair removal?

Im not planning on ever wearing cycling shorts padded or not so maybe am looking at the wrong saddles.

You can wear what you like with them. My partner used to have a Brooks saddle on her tourer thirty years ago, and rode over a hundred miles a day for a week’s holiday without wearing padded shorts. Her longest ride in a day was 162 miles. I didn’t wear cycling shorts when riding a utility bike around London many years ago either. But when I used to ride my road bikes with a high cadence I did, and I ride my Kalkhoff in a sporting way so still do.

If you’re going to be in the saddle for a few hours or more proper gear is a good idea. Jeans and such like can rub badly unless you’re just pottering around.

Damn my ncx post just arrived and i needed a 26.8mm post and ordered a 27.2! It's not even available in the size i need :-(

I may now have a brand new ncx post for sale!

Looks like i may need to keep an eye out for a 26.8 thudbuster.
