I live in NE38 area of the North East.
I would like someone to repair/service my bike, an old style electric bike (GoPed)
Can anyone on the forum recommend a suitable person who would appreciate the work?
Regards ~ Paul

I would bet that all it needs is a couple of new batteries that cost around £70 and is a pretty easy fix. You'd have to open the case to see what's inside, assuming that you have it. If you don't have the case, you're out unless you're good at DIY.

What repairs need doing to the bike, electrical, mechanical or both?
Hi, my wife has tried the bike without power and it pedals as normal, no apparent mechanical issues.
I replaced three batteries a few months back with brand new ones.
I also managed to source the original charger for the power pack.
I charged the new batteries up completely and the bike hub showed a flicker of green, but still no power.
Sorry I cannot assist more.
I feel someone with a knowledge of these type of bikes might be able to just diagnose the problem.
Regards, Paul

I'm guessing that as it's a lead acid battery bike, you remove the battery pack and plug the charger into the battery pack to charge. Then once it is charged, you slide the battery pack into the housing behind the seat and plug that connector (shown on one of your pictures) back into the battery pack. I'm assuming that the same socket on the battery pack is used to charge and also provide power to the bike?

If this is the case, you could try cleaning the socket on the battery pack and also the connector on the bike that plugs into the battery pack. Use a cotton bud soaked in contact cleaner, isopropyl alcohol or even vodka, to see if tarnished contacts are causing a problem with power flow. Allow to dry thoroughly after cleaning!

Thank you for the advice.
The setup is as you described, apart from a on/off key at the rear of the pack.
I did clean all electrical points with WD 40 when I bought the new batteries.
I will repeat the clean though as you suggested.
Not sure about using my Polish Vodka though!! Lol

You'll be lucky to find anyone locally, who has the knowledge to fix your bike. Even if you could, they'd probably charge more than what it's worth. I think you're either going to have to get a meter out and sort it yourself or sell it as it is as a non-runner. First step would be to check whether it's a brushed ( 2 wires) or brushless 3 or more wires) motor. Follow the motor cable from the motor until you come to a connector, where you'll be able to count them.
