Right back to bike cam, I have had a response from the seller of one of the cams I linked to and they say 90mins record time fully charged.

I was thinking of something along those lines. But I do ride with a pronounced forward lean so I would get lots of footage of the front wheel I should think. Maybe a shoulder fitting like the cops are using now would be better? It could be easily adjusted to face up a little when standing and so pointing down the road when riding.

I don't like the idea of helmet mounts at all and handlebar mounting can be very shaky.

Went and purchased one of the M500 mini cams I linked to, now charging so will get to use it soon. Comes with 3 differing attachments for various fitting however it fits best in my Lezyne micro drive light cradle on the handle bar.

Hi Nealh

I'd be keen to get your real world battery life

And which of the two links did you buy in the end ?

Many thanks
Kirstin

Hello Kirstin
I got the one in the 2nd link but both are the same item, annoyingly I have a micro sd/tf card around somewhere but can't find it so have had to order a new one off fleabay. Coming from China 32gb for £4.85 inc p&p so probably will be a few weeks before I can try it out unless of course I find missing one.

One SJCAM SJ4000 ordered up, along with chest mount.

I'm really buying it for one specific trip to Switzerland in July with the bike, but figured I'd buy it now and get used to using it.

It'll be interesting to see how the chest mount works out, as GoPro users turn the camera upside down to get chest mounts to work when cycling, and the option of flipping film footage isn't something that the SJ offers. Being new to this, I guess that can happen at the editing/uploading stage.

This thread re-kindled my interest in purchasing an Action Cam and set me googling the various options . The Techmoan reviews were very useful and I liked the look of the latest SJCAM M10 which has just come out . I am still on the 2nd generation mobile phone, but thought the Wi-Fi version would be future proof . Mindful of the warning on `fakes ` I decided to order through Banggood.com and `clicked `the slightly more expensive option of having it delivered from the UK , which turned out to be postmarked Greenford .
It arrived by 2nd Class Royal Mail within 3 days , even including the week-end , by the way the price was £78 delivered .
I purchased a San Disc 32Gb Ultra micro SDHC Card and was ready to go . I put the M10 in the waterproof case and clamped it to the handlebar of my Batribike Folder . Beforehand I had selected the `CLOUDY` setting on the menu and +1/3 for the light setting , even though it was mainly sunny/blue with some cloud about .
My trip took me through Porthkerry Country Park , Cardiff Airport and back home to Barry via the main road . After downloading my efforts to the laptop I am amazed at the quality of the video . Sharp right up to the edges , lovely natural colours on my settings and even into a low Sun the flare handling was excellent . I even managed to get aerial shots of the approaching City Jet ATR 42 arriving from Paris by aligning the handlebars .
The Wi-Fi version differs slightly from the M10 tested by Techmoan , the button between the up and down buttons are for the Wi-FI and not the Mode .The new Mode button is now combined with the ON button and a longer depression is needed for ON . This addresses the criticism by Techmoan that the M10 could be activated in the pocket by accident .
You will have gathered that I`m very impressed by this Action Camera and you would be right . At about £62 for the non Wi-Fi version and the the Wi-Fi version costing about £18 more makes them bargains.
Everything will be speeded up when I fix it to my 1982 Suzuki X7 Motorcycle !

For anyone wondering about video time , mine lasted 1 hr 06min. until the battery ran out , but at the start only 3 of the 4 charging bars were showing . The resolution was set on 1080P , HDR on and the screen set to blank out after 5 minutes . When the screen blanks , the orange flashing light on the top of the Camera shows whether you are still recording or not , that alerted me to the fact that the battery had run out.
The waterproof case blocks out traffic noise but the front motor on the Batribike could be heard whining away . For more noise the alternative back supplied can be fitted and this has two slits in it , to enable straps to be fitted and let in more sound and obviously water !
There are plenty of fixings available for these cameras , both Official , generic and Go- Pro .Some very attractive handlebar fittings on Amazon are in red anodised aluminium which would hold the camera on top or under the handle bar for maximum stealth if your knees would allow it .

How did teh SJCAM SJ4000 work out? i am very tempted by it for around£60 on banggood, but am absoutterlylootely flat broke. Does anyone know of an even cheaper wifi equiped gopro clone that would be just about good enough?

selrahc if you put SJ4000 into the search , loads of Cameras come up , both genuine and fake . It appears as though some of the fakes are as good as the original SJCam , judging by the stars awarded . The trick appears to avoid paying the higher price of the original SJCam and being delivered a cheaper fake .
If it was me I would wait and get the original, as we know that the performance is up to scratch .

I have the Nyon unit which has a USB output socket on it, so, is it possible to charge any camera via that port to ensure that it continues running for the whole journey?

If it ever arrives, I'll let you know. :(

Taking recommendation from Techmoan I ordered it via Fox Offer, and I'm still waiting. Not exactly fast efficient service, that's for sure.

For some stupid reason, it never occurred to me to look to see where the company was based, and just assumed that it was in the UK.
