Hi Jaq,
To get you going you'll need to give a bit of information.
What type of riding are we talking, road, track, off road, leisure, commuting?
Whats the terrain like hilly or flat?
What sort of distance are you thinking, although I can guarentee it'll be more than you think.
And - er - ahem, how heavyish are you:oops:.
Then we can give you some pointers.

Hello Jaq :)

Do you mean that after 20 mins you need to be able to go along on throttle only (i.e. stop pedalling)?

Just about any E-bike would be OK. They all go at more or less the same speed and have similar power. Those in the know will argue about the finer points all day, but I've never found one that I would be disappointed with if it were the only choice, and I've ridden many hundreds.

For you, apart from the size, I'd say that the most important thing is having someone to fix it in case there's a problem, or to give advice when there's something you're not sure about. That normally means a local dealer. Have a look in your local Halfords as well as any nearby E-bike shops.

You're surrounded by stockists, but it might be worth travelling to a good one, to try a range of bikes.

I'd suggest a trip to E-Motion in Swindon (where you could try our bikes :) ) or if that's too far there is an excellent shop in Coulsdon near Guildford (Cycling Made Easy) where you couldn't try our bikes :(

Down on the south coast are numerous shops and might make a nice day away from the noise of the airport (I was born near you, but now live in the Northern Poorhouse - and now my Asthma has all gone and I can breath easily. So it's not all that awful up here!).

If you're heading for a day out by the coast then try Summit Bikes at Selsey or Drayton Cycles at Portsmouth, Bike Centre in Southampton, or further afield is Motabitz in Bournemouth. But there are now loads of good bike shops with electric bikes. As Dave says above, you are spoiled for choice, but taking a test ride is important to avoid ending up with something not right for you.

Have fun choosing!
