Hi, I'm Gary. I live on the hillier outskirts of Nottingham, and recent returned to cycling. I used to commute by bike until my then employer dangled the carrot of a company car. My previous bike, when I lived nearer the city was a Brompton. However a long standing knee injury seemed to preclude a return to cycling. Having lost just over 5 stone in weight, I borrowed a non electric bike for a few short rides. My knee soon convinced me this would not be an option. My other half said that she'd rarely seen me smile as much as when I returned from my rides, so earlier this year I bought a Scott E-Sub Sport. Delighted with the bike, and as well as commuting I was also riding for leisure. However a month ago a hit and run driver wrote off my bike. I'm now considering a replacement, although the collision somewhat knocked my confidence.

It does look a little like a mess , just depends on if the rear stays/dropouts are bent or damaged, though looking at the mid drive backwards it does look like the frame is bent (or an optical illusion).
If they are ok looks like a new wheel and rack is needed only. Battery and mid drive appear to look good other wise.

Although confidence is knocked :(, hopefully you weren't injured and it was jus your pride that was hurt.

Me : A few patches of gravel rash, and a bit of bruising. I've torn the medial meniscus in my 'good' knee, but 3 weeks it seems to be settling.
The bike: unfortunately beyond economic repair. Hard to see in the photos but the rear of the frame is badly twisted, with both rear stays snapped. According to a witness ( I was busy rolling round in the gutter swearing!) the 4x4 that hit me ran over the back of the bike.

The mid drive and everything forward of that are still fine, if slightly scratched. I was wondering if Pedelecs might be the place to sell the components?

See, us Gary's aren't the dying breed people say we are! :D

Either sell the salvageable parts to the vultures, or if you liked the bike get the same and keep it for spares. No harm in having two batteries and a spare motor.

Get back on a bike. I had a relatively minor off a few weeks ago and am still cautious on unfamiliar ground, but I'm so glad to be back on two wheels :)

Good to meet another Gaz, Gaz.

My insurers have now paid the claim, and I've ordered a Cube Kathmandu Hybrid Pro to replace it, so I hope to be back on two wheels early next week. I have a few familiar off road routes that I hope to ride to familiarise myself with the new bike and rebuild my confidence. Same battery and motor as the Scott, so I may keep them as spares as you suggest.
