hello all,
this is my baptism into the ebike world,
I'm now 52 and have been cycling just about all my life.
i do more miles on my pushbike than i do in my car, but now due to a recent medical condition find myself in need of a little boost to my pedal power :(

when i started to look, the first ebike i liked the look of was the A2b metro but as it has a 500w motor have ruled it out. i dont think it would be too easy to pedal without assist, but only really want it for local journeys to enhance my mobilty

things i liked about it were:
design including the y frame and full suspension,
the hub motor,
twist throttle,
hydraulic brakes,
incorporated lights

any thoughts or possible alternatives greatly appreciated

thanks, Ben

Pretty much all the brands advertised both on the right of this page and variously posted about by many trade and non-trade members have some or all of those features.
If you haven't yet tried something then go to a specialist shop and take a test ride on anything that fits you. You'll then have a starting point against which to compare.
There's "liking the look" and "loving the ride" and the two criteria, whilst both important, may not be in equal balance when it comes to test riding.
So - go ride!

Nothing replaces some test rides really.
Food for thought on possible replacements for £1000 budget: woosh Zephyr-B. It has good BPM motor, hydraulic brakes front and rear, full suspension, will climb almost any hill and it folds.

Do you really need full suspension for road riding? Living where you do you've got loads of access to good suppliers. Book some test rides, try hub and crank drive and PAS as opposed to torque sense.

Thanks for replies guys, I fully agree that test rides are much needed and will be commencing with them soon.

I just liked the style of the aluminium Y frame from an aesthetic point of view.

Will keep you posted as to my progress.

Regards, Ben.

There is also the upcoming London Bike Show 11th - 14th February at Excel where several brands are available to test ride including A2B, Amps, BatriBike, Juicy, Oxygen and others.
We'll be showing our latest system prototype for feedback - lighter, virtually silent and more powerful with a beautifully responsive torque control which I think will be very positively received.
Hope you can get to that show and give me your opinion!
