What bike did you go for in the end? I am looking at similar models and thought about Freego.

It wasn't a Freego. I don't want to say until all of this is sorted out but once it is then I hope I can give a glowing report of both the retailer and manufacturer. So far, I am impressed by them all and the way they have all acted, but am still reserving judgement until Wednesday when the old bike should be collected and its replacement delivered.

Update: True to their word, a large box containing a brand-new bike arrived this morning in perfect condition and I get to try it out before the original bike with a fault on the lights/controller is collected probably next week.

The bike I bought is the Seago ePower and it is perfect for my needs. At 19.5kg it's one of the lightest folders, has front and rear disc brakes which I prefer, easily accommodates a +34" inside leg (and longer), has adjustable height handlebars and it actually fits me - so many I tried are designed for shorter legs and longer bodies than mine and are quite uncomfortable.

I would highly recommend both the bike, retailer (Pirates Cave chandlers) and company Seago Yachting. Before buying the bike, fully aware I was buying from a chandlery specialist rather than a bike specialist) I spoke to many ex-stockists (no bikes currently in stock until the new model is launched in October) for their views on the bike and Seago company and all were full of praise which has been my experience too. My husband already has their life rafts and some of their sailing gear and his experience has been positive too so it's a company I feel I could recommend with confidence, along with the bike as a lower-budget, practical folder which works.

I've used it almost daily, including 8 miles today along our hilly lanes. I can honestly say I haven't regretted it for a second and would buy the same again.

It's very adjustable in terms of saddle and handlebar height - more so than the alternatives I looked at and can accommodate my 34" inside leg with ease (many can't). The tyres cope with rough gravel tracks, but not stone forest tracks - not that I would expect them to.

It's amongst the lightest folders but I have added some weight by changing the saddle, adding a 2kg insurance-approved lock and small saddle bag. I can still pedal it comfortably along flat lanes but I do use the power on hills - just flick the button and it's like a helping push. I also like the front and rear disk brakes, particularly in wet weather on our muddy lanes.

Later this week I'll be taking it out for the day on a route around some local castles confident that when my legs aches or I can't tackle the hills, I can put my trust in the Seago. If you're local, you're welcome to have a look at it.

what is battery warranty? and i wonder benefits of deralier gears or hub type on woosh zephyr cdn for hilly terrain. Im a 1000ft up a hillside.

I think the warranty on the battery is 1 year, matching the frame (but warranties are only gestures of goodwill - I rely of Sale of Goods Act instead).

I live at the top of a 2 mile hill and use the battery on medium power to get up it.

Hi. I am new to the search for a good value folding electric bike. I am also interested in the Seago. How have you got on with it since your last post? What are the pros and cons? Thanks in advance for any information.

I'm really pleased with it. I've been cycle touring along the Welsh borders on it, up Yat Rock at Symonds Yat - a notorious 20% gradient and it seems to have about a 35 mile range based on using full power up steep hills then free-wheeling down.

The pros are many - fun, powerful motor, lightweight (for an electric bike - 19kg), disc brakes front and rear, good 'grippy' tyres which are good on mud. There's only one 'con' - I can switch on the lights on mine without also switching on the power. It might be a one-off wiring issue or since corrected on the new 2016 model.

The new 2016 model is blue (not red), has slightly different tyres (I've not seen them but am told they are still 1.95" and chunky) and there has been a small modification to the folding clip.

A few people have visited to take a look at my bike and then bought one themselves: a chandlery store in Bridgend is currently offering them for £595 and including a carry bag with the bike.

I would buy the same again and those who looked at mine, then bought one themselves, have also been very happy with it.

Thanks for your reply. I tried one out in Force 4 chandlery in Bristol. It's great. And your feedback has given me the confidence to order one. It's being delivered tomorrow. I'm getting a bag and will be able to take it to Spain where I have a house on top of a very steep hill...800 feet in 2 miles of road so I hope it will make it! I've got the blue one so hopefully it will be this year's model. Thanks again.

Congratulations on your purchase and I hope you enjoy using it.

It will be the new version - I bought the last of the old 2015 stock (red) direct from Seago and mine didn't include the bag.

I see the price has increased from the sub-£600 of two weeks ago. Bad timing but it is still a very good bike in my opinion.
