Sorry, having a worry. Please could someone confirm if what I have ordered is correct:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Bicycle-Power-Pedal-Assist-Sensor-for-24V-and-36V-8-Magnet-PAS-/321499168113?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item4adad7fd71

I have a feeling mine is dual hall and this might be single hall. I don't know what this means or if it matters. Could someone explain?

If I have made a mistake, please could someone point me in the direction of what I need?

Many thanks indeed!

If your motor went when you tapped the two wires together, it'll work with that pedal sensor. Different pedal sensors work in different ways, but the end result is always the same. The signal wire pulses on and off at 5v and the controller is constantly checking the speed of the pulsing to decide what to do.

Thanks for that. I could only find them available on eBay - there must be other sources for e bike spares in the UK?

I am in the middle of fitting the new sensor. The good news is that it works pedalling forwards. However, when I back pedal it intermittently starts the motor as well. Any ideas before I put the crank arm back on?

Sounds like one of the magnets is wrong way round in the ring. You should be able to find out which with another magnet.....or at least rule it out....

Well I swapped disks and made an adjustment as it was a different diameter. Now it is all working! My bike is as good as new!

Thanks for all the help folks!
