Hello All! UM36X Needs Help

Firstly Hiya to anyone reading this post.

I have been commuting to work on a Urban Mover UM36X for the past five years now and have popped in to read these forum topics for tips and advice, which usually gets my problems solved, but recently the battery charger has decided to give up on me

On advice from this forum I managed to find a replacement charger of same rating, but I need to swap the 3 pin connector already on it for the Urban Mover 5 pin connector, which I can do, however I have no way of telling which wire is the Positive and which is the negative. One cable is White and one is a screening cable like that of a coaxial cable where at the pcb has been shrouded in a black shrink tubing then soldered on.

I have taken some pics to make it clearer.

On the reverse of the pcb the solder point on the right is the white cable which branches off to other components on the board, the solder point on the left is the black (coaxial) cable which has no connective strips.

If someone knows which is positive and which is negative that would be epic!

My battery was approx 3/4 depleted when I went to charge it, then I found out the horrible truth, I don't want my battery to die in the depths of deep discharge!

Hard to tell. Normally, the screen is 0v, but that's just convention. The Chinese guys don't always play by the rules.

To be sure, get yourself a cheap digital multi meter (DMM). Screwfix and toolstation sell cheapies (£5-10). if your in hurry. EBay if you can wait a few days.
When you have one, report back and I can tell you how to use it.

I have tried to use a Multi meter on the old charger, there is no output from it at all, as a chip on the underside of the pcb has been melted due to some kind of failure, leaving me with no way to determine Positive and Negative? so basically I need a way to determine this on a charger with no output! This is because I need to know how the 5 pin connector was wired up to the Positive and Negative on the old charger, so I can replicate this on the new one (it's clear on the new charger which is Pos & Neg)

You should be able to tell by connecting to the battery charging pins. Two of the pins will have about 40 (ish) volts on them.
