Heinzmann only make hub motors but are a respected German manufacturer of those. They were the first in the world to make commercial cycle motors in 1922, all before being speculative prototypes. The one we are familiar with is a very powerful brush motor, rather larger is diameter than we are used to but not very heavy. The internal gear drive is single pinion asymmetric rather than the nylon orbital gears we are used to, rather more noisy and especially so on the illegally powered ones which have steel gears.
As a complete bike they are sometimes sold fitted to the very high quality Estelle bikes, but since both the Heinzmann kits and the Estelle bikes are very expensive now, they are no longer popular options. And of course the old-tech higher noise and brush motors don't help the image. Heinzmann have announced a brushless hub motor a couple of years ago but we've seen nothing of it to date.
