I don't know whether this the right part of the forum for this post.

I have a Polar-compatible heart rate chest strap (5.3KHz) and I need a cheap heart rate monitor/watch to communicate with it. I am NOT in the £500 to £1000 fitness tracker market!
I don’t want any other function other than heart rate, which must be clearly displayed.

The alternative route is to download a suitable app to my Samsung Android phone and mount this on the bike. I would then need a mount.

I much prefer the KISS route of the first option. Any suggestions for a suitable item?

Look on Amazon. There are several for £20 to £30.
Not sure how good they are tho ..

If you want to lose the chest strap, I'd recommend the Garmin VivoSmart HR, which is a watch, step counter, HR monitor, etc. It weighs virtually nothing, communicates with your smart phone and Garmin app, and also has a website for more detailed information. It sells on Amazon for about £120.

We have Xiaomi Mi Bands - I have a 2, partner has a 3.

They do seem to measure heart rate quite, even very, well. (Sleep measure is rather wayward!) Excellent battery life - mine says about 20 days and partner's is even longer. And they are at the cheap end of the scale. Bought the 3 on AliExpress and it arrived in a few days.

Check carefully as to whether they do what you need.

It might be more economical to simply buy the cheapest Polar watch with its own HR strap (I forget the model number). Then get a handlebar mount for the watch if you want. Tredz had them on sale recently.

Many people believe you still need a chest strap option if you want accurate results when exercising. The wrist options seem good when static, but less so when there is movement.
