Has the poor Southern Rail service influenced your Pedelec purchase

I Know I am seriously considering upgrading my Al frame Marin with a Pedelec kit for commuting to work.

I used to easily do 9 miles in 35 min at my fittest. Now i live 18.5 miles from work an have to buy a £1900.00 season ticket to get in...but i think with the advances in pedelec technology. From the research I have done I am sure I could cover 18.5 miles with in 60 min at a 20 mph average. South London to city centre.

Is this possible? What are your thoughts and recommendations.

Legal cut off is 15.5 mph. Any hills en route? Ups and downs? Swings and roundabouts?

It would be easily do-able if you had some nice downhill stretches on your way to work. You have to consider traffic lights, roundabouts too etc.

a bosch or Yamaha bike will do it with a dongle but you will need to charge the batt at work if you only have one.

a bafang mid drive kit would be a bit cheaper but you would have to remove the speed limit and same for a hub motor bit cheaper again.

I do not think you can average 20 MPH through London ( probably in any vehicle ).

For an ebike on open A roads that average would be a challenge but in heavy traffic ?

The savings will make a lot of sense, £ 1900 will get you a good bike then some nice holidays each year after that.

Chally 2 is quite nippy, but at 37 mph it might trigger the speed cameras

Could it be taxed as a Historic Vehicle (in my eyes a Heroic Vehicle) and get away with it like that ?

Get a low mileage pre 76 model.
