I always look at the negative feed backs/ratings first I don't think they pay for or make them up ( not just eBay ) unlike perhaps the positives and try and make a judgement from there.

I agree. I've given your post 100% positive rating and 5 stars! Plus, delivery of your comment was swift and reasonably priced.

That seller has sold at least 40 of these throttles (there may have been prior batches, in addition to those), and out of 77 negative comments left for his entire shop in total (no mention in 75 neutral comments either - I didn't check the positive comments lol), that throttle only gets mentioned once, which led me to suspect that particular buyer didn't try hard enough to get it connected.

You may already have one but... I replaced the Vengeful Vermin Virgin Media with one of these on £20 a month zero strings Smarty, gets good signal. Less secure older models are available for less than half this price at webuy.com; refundable within 14 days if bought online. However, of course signal strength would vary widely on your moving boat regardless. When moored, you could find optimum positioning and trail an ethernet cable...

For some reason or other, the ebay seller didn't dispatch my order for days. On day five I requested a cancellation, got a refund and bought this one on ebay (Speedpak from China) with the right connector, and the same length of cable as my existing throttle:

The same item is on AliExpress, but it's cheaper on ebay because 20% VAT is included in ebay's quoted price, and not added when you asked to pay.

It's light, all plastic apart from the screws and bolt, feels quite cheap (it was quite cheap) but works. As I wanted, it's quick to install and remove, because the mount opens to fit over the handlbar (one small Allen bolt to secure) - there's no need to remove anything else from the handlebar first.

I prefer the push forward activation of this throttle, instead of the push down action of my last one - there was too much travel of the lever/too much pushing down required to get full throttle.

It's small, takes up less space in my toolkit.

It takes about the same amount of space compared to the throttle you have now.

This throttle measures 12.1mm wide vs my last one's 20mm. Turns out, 12.1mm is the only available space I had left on my handlebar.

To make this throttle even easier to attach, tool free, I replaced the hex bolt with a knurled thumb bolt: Simply clip over the handlebar and turn the knob. The plan for this throttle is emergency use/tricky uphill maneuvers while towing very heavy trailers... but I could leave it on the bike, and quickly remove it after being stopped by five-oh-no-don't-tase-me-aaarrrggghh.

This had to be cut to length and filed a little:

I just noticed you sent me a link for a mifi router, thanks. If I was a permanent liveaboard I would go for one, but there are 12v models available, just put the 240/12 plug in the spares drawer, that one might do the job.

If you buy the knurled bolt for tool-less: A bit of that bolt's lower ridge (just above the bolt thread before the thumb knurl) needs a little filing away, to reduce it's diameter, otherwise it's a smidge too big fit into the throttle's plastic recess - a couple of minutes work with a cheap common diamond file. Otherwise it damages the throttle's plastic.

It's a comparatively cheap and effective replacement for VirginMedia broadband, if you have good signal. No 18 month contract, just one month at a time for £20 a month with Smarty is brilliant (it uses the Three network, because it's actually Three). If it doesn't work out, return the router to Amazon and use the 30 days on another device.
