Interested what type of bike people are buying...we are entering the fifth month of the year and the weather has been quite nice of late. Perhaps you could advise what e-bike you have purchased this year. Please not kits or DIY builds, just complete bikes.
I am working on Kudos 2015 models and it's obviously important that I specify bikes that people want to buy.

Kalkhoff Pro-Connect X-24 at a knock-down, sale price in january. A quality machine, the equal of lots of others costing a grand more and the bargain of the year so far for me.

I bought a Kudos Typhoon a few weeks ago. I've got a couple of hundred miles on it. It's a great machine. But you probably knew that. :)

KTM E Cross P - with touring extras - full mudguards and a pannier rack with Topeak bag.

I bought this rather tha a full MTB or road bike as I do most riding on roads with a little off road trailing.

Also fitted Ergon GP5 grips and bar ends. Love it.

Might do, don't know what at the moment, thinking a crank drive ,hub gear enclosed chain case, full pannier racks, guards, lights, low maintenance basically

What you got in the box?

Bought and about to sell a Haibike eq Xduro Cross.

It just doesn't do it for me. It's as dull as dish water.

I'd really like to up my game in respect of e-mtb's, but deciding in which direction to go, isn't easy.
If the BH had an extra 10miles of potential range, and wasn't limited by depth of water, then I'd be quite happy to stick with it. A replacement 12ah battery may or may not give the extra range, but nothing is ever going to sadly help in respect of water.
Equally perhaps I shouldn't worry too much about the motor. You can buy a hell of a lot of motors for the price of a new bike, so whilst it would hurt, maybe buying two/three motors a year, could be the answer. I also like the fact that the BH is very un e-bike looking, so doesn't cause any raised eyebrows at the MTB events. I suspect that the noise and look of a mid drive would not be met quite so favourably by some. I need to borrow a mid drive to try at an event, just to see. :)
An issue that I am plagued with, which would hit whatever bike that I buy is rear wheel free hub bearing issues. Along with drive chains and brake pads/discs, I can knock them out pretty quickly. The most recent one has probably covered less than 250 miles and is already sounding worse than my knees.

I am still pleased with this year's purchase, an old model AVE MH7.

The Bosch drive is dull, but that also means there's nothing to annoy you so it's easy to live with in the long term.

I've just started riding with a group of ordinary cyclists who do trips of between 25 and 60 or so miles.

The leader said ebikes are acceptable and I've only had two sarky comments - both from the same person.

I think the fact the AVE (the group hasn't seen the Rose yet) is obviously a quality bike helps, as does the fact I know what I'm doing.

Eddie ticks both those boxes, his bike is properly prepared and he clearly knows how to handle the terrain he takes on.

Both our bikes are legal and relatively under-stated.

I expect if either Eddie or I turned up on a 1,000W contraption we would get some stick.

I purchased a Haibike RC29 early this year. Hard tail mountain bike with half decent spec.

Bosch centre drive suits my requirements as I like put in a good amount of effort. Of course, I have the option of Turbo if I wish to reduce my effort.

Mountain bike takes me to work in the week, off road at the weekends and give me the best of both worlds. Yes it does not have mudguards as per a decent commuter but I can live with that.

Would not suit everyone, but as it is my bike, it does not have to.

I also get the odd sark comment, most have however been positive.

I liken e-bikes to boating.

Some people like to row, some sail and other motor. At the end of the day they are all boaters. I say, each to their own.

I said in a earlier post

Note the word cynic.
Due to one arm being shorter than the other I need high rise bars, the shop couldn't get what I wanted (3"DJ bars) so I supplied my own for them to fit, also they would fit tyres of my choice, simples.
Well instead of ringing me when it was ready on Thursday, I rang them at 7PM and spoke to a man in the workshop, he said it's sitting here all ready to go but the boss was out all day so there was no one to phone me.
That was yesterday.
This afternoon I cadge a lift over to collect and ride my new bike home .
After announcing my arrival (4oclock) I waited 20 minuets before someone asked me how I liked my breaks, European or English style, apparently that's rear break leaver on the right or left side of the handlebars, WTF that's a new one on me. Needles to say they were wrong and would only take a few minuets to correct. 30 minuets later and I'm asking the boss what's going on, he says just 5 more minuets.
One hour after walking into the store to collect and pay for a bike that was supposed to be ready, it was finally wheeled out from the workshop.
Was I happy ? No, the tyres hadn't been changed. At this point I said one word to the boss, tyres ! (as I walked out of the store at 5.10)
I got a phone call at 6.15 from the boss with an apology for the mistake, apparently it was the new mechanics fault and everything is now sorted and if I like he can bring the bike over to me sometime Saturday PM.
I chose this store because it's been around for years and it's only 12 miles away.
Yes I'm a cynic but I think I'm justified.
I still have a pocket full of pound notes so if I tell the shop to stick the bike where the sun never shines, I'm only down by the £29 for the handlebars.

Rant over and it's bedtime anywho.
Maybe after a good nights sleep I'll feel a bit more positive.
