Harbin bike

My mate has acquired a step though bike labelled Harbin. It is without a battery and I can't see a controller. Has anyone come across one of these and can advise me. I can easily sort the battery but have no idea what kind of controller it should have. All we have is the wiring. It has a rear hub motor which does work with power supplied to it

May I ask how you have connected the power to a motor without a controller ? Are there simply two wires exiting the motor. I just googled harbin and it seems to be Chinese brand

Yes connected the wires from motor direct to battery but only briefly
