I think its a good idea to have all my batteries using the same connection type,

Currently im using both slotted bars connectors and gold pin connectors, with the modification of one battery and sled I can have all 3 using the same connector type. Providing me with spare/battery swap options.

Im looking for the downside but cant see it atm.. Im already at risk of plugging a 48v battery into a 36v only controller as these batteries already share the same connector type but am unlikely to make that error even if changing batteries in the pitch black.

If there is no glaringly damn good reason as to why not...

Is the gold pin connector the 'best' option??

What sort of soldering iron wattage is required to replace the connectors on a battery and sled? I have an iron capable of 50-60w output but currently its limited by a 30w psu..

And whats the game with ali express, i started searching before logging in, find a page of £1-2 options select one pair with free pnp, log in and all of a sudden the same item is £6 + £3 pnp?????

thats significantly more than a 20% vat charge and reasonable handling fee.. a £7+ price hike on what was a < £2 item!!

And now the same basic price as the ebay import from china option circa £9.hrmph!!.

The "New user discount" doesn't apply if you already have an AliExpress account and have ordered before. The VAT is a nasty surprise on AliEXpress, but included in ebay's listed price. There's much better buyer protection on ebay, so I only ever order from AliExpress when I absolutely must. Usually the same item is on ebay dispatched from the UK, sometimes at a similar price, and very occasionally cheaper. New products appear on AliExpress first however.

I use a cheap 100W Silverline soldering iron to solder battery power cables on my bike. Also works great for soldering connectors, very fast, hot, and effective:

Cheers @guerney
I am way out of touch,.
Not really been china shopping for quite a few years..most of the portals ive used are now dead rip..

£9 for 2 bits of plastic and steel doodads from China? the bargain boat has well and truly sailed eh, now no one else makes anything the prices will rise, who could have seen that coming? .

rant aside i shall source via ebay, Im pretty sure with 60w available my lil ts100 can do the job I must have an old lappy psu capable of 60w somewhere..

£9 tho .....
