help please
I have a Haibike SLCross with a Yamaha motor bought October 15 and has done about 800 miles,
Recently on a ride in a high gear and putting a lot of pressure on the drivetrain the chain slipped with a bang on the 11 sprocket and the motor now has a strange spinning noise when I take off, stop peddling while in motion and re start, but no noise while traveling, sounds like the motor spooling up only for a second then stops has anyone got any ideas about this, I have contacted the supplier but they have no idea what it may be

I would guess some sort of damage to the free-wheel mechanism.

Thanks d8veh
On further investigation I have found that it is in fact the Rotor has de laminated (se pic ) and the outer disc is free to rotate, when the motor energises it spins that disc up first and that is what makes the noise
Looks like it maybe a warranty claim, that is if they don't disallow it for me opening the motor cover
Incidentally I did email Haibike about the problem and they have yet to get back to me

Sorry took me ages to figure how to attach photo
Looks like I will have to return motor at least, to London and I live in North Wales so not so easy, plus my bike out of action in the summer also
