I always wanted to buy Giant Trance, non ebike, I almost bought it previous week then I saw ebikes.....I never came across ebikes before.....and I tried one and the whole bosch assistant motor

So I can get one for 3000 eur but regular full suspension Giant costs 1500 eur, so half the price....
Is Haibike same quality as Giant?

I have heard batteries are expensive, like 1000 eur new one 500W...

I dont know if I should buy the bike or not...I am so confused.....
Here are my cons and pros

pros :
  • easy to ride
  • new techonology
  • uphills are a breeze
  • i am 40yo
cons
  • double price of a really good Giant full suspension bike
  • cant take it to airplane because of battery hazard
  • is heavy
  • battery costs 1000 eur
  • total weight 120 kilos, and I weight 105 kilos, so I am over the limit......
  • slow 25 kmh LIMIT!!!!
were you in the same dillema buying ebike as me? I cant decide DOes the batter really last 100 km on medium setting? Does the battery power go down over the years?

thank you and I am glad I found this forum
and if you convert the bike with reporisioning a magnet so you get 50 kmh top speed, will that damage my bike?

Your weight is no problem, so ignore that.

It won't do 100km on medium setting, might do about 60 or 70km.

The magnet trick no longer works, you want a Badass dongle.

Going faster uses even more power which reduces range.

The dongle fits over the speed sensor on the chain stay.

It clips on, no need for cable ties, even on a Haibike.

All the dongle does is remove the speed cut off, it does not tune the motor in any way.

My common sense view is the dongle will not damage the motor.

i have a 2015 haibike urban with the performance line motor, badass dongle works and takes the speed limit up to 50km/h but placing the magnet on the frame to pick up a signal off the crank throws up a 503 speed sensor error code, great bike and good performance with quite a good range as i ride mainly in the sport mode,i am thinking about the new 500 longer range battery as a spare.

so you would not go back to regular mtb with no motor? Yes new batteries are like 500 mw, but what does that mean? Only distance is improved? Or strenght too? What about in few years were new stuff will be coming out new batteries more powerful motor, than you will want to sell your bike and you will loose like 50 % or purchase price or more.....
that is the reason I cant decide....
do you ride it rough? I men xduro is for rough terain right? 120 mm forks should be good for small jumps?

the 2016 500 wh battery has 25% more range not more power, the motor on the haibike urban is powerful enough and i ride mainly on the road with a little towpath and smooth trails,it has rigid forks.
