LBS or any other LBS doesn't physically repair a component part all they do is to diagnose the issue though diagnosis and then swap out any part if they have it in stock, other wise will order in from Germany or wherever in case of the drive unit wait until a replacement arrives after they have sent the old one away.
All bikes are the same you don't physically carry out a repair, no need for too much electrical knowhow often just a case of like for like replacement if part comes from the original seller.
Woosh, Kudos Wipser etc will send out a replacement part if you can't get the bike to them and all you have to do is unplug and unscrew something and fit all back again. If you aren't able to manage often they will find a solution to help you out through a third party.
The only time you need some leccy knowhow is with kit building and battery diagnosis if you like to tinker and know how things work, other wise it is plug and play.
