Gsm kit with internal controller - 44.4v?

Hi all

Anyone run this at 44.4v with the standard internal controller ?

Only I somehow left both chargers for my 36v pack at work. I only have a 12s Lipo pack at home and don't want to blow my bike

I might have to actually cycle unassisted tomorrow otherwise !

The internal GSM controller has 2 caps a large one 50v and a smaller one 63v so looks like it will take 12s., to be sure keep it safe at 4 - 4.05v.

Theoretically caps have a 20% tolerance according to electronics forums I have crawled. I was hoping my 36 V 09 bottle battery controller with it's 50 V cap could handle 4.1 V?

I guess I'll just have to test "in the name of science" before committing to a battery box build (controller sealed in).

Yes. Understood! I actually do have a 4s Lipo brick that I use on another bike as a booster

In the end I just used that with a 6s brick to get 36v nominal. But only a 6ah pack so I had to all the hard work anyway. Pas on 3 not 8 or 9 !

My usage would be with an external controller, does that void the warranty too? trex said he tried and the motor got "a bit warm" but I think he did a bit of throttle only. I provide about 120 W and ask the motor for a little help on the hills, speed limited to 25 km/h + 5%

Maybe when out of warranty. But I don't really see the need. It was only ever as a one off due to my own idiocy in leaving my chargers at work

Einstien in the 'name of science ' how did you find the 09 controller with 12s as I'm looking for a controller to use with lipo's and my Q128c. Did it get warm or hot and did it perform ?

If you want to use 12S lipos, you should use the 48v version, which will have the right LVC, otherwise any 48v controller:

That's assuming it's a sensored motor.

Didn't try it. I am using my bottle battery and 10S LiPo so stuck with the 36V controllers. I may venture into 12S when I extend my LiPo pack but will grab a 48 V controller as per d8veh's recommendation. The motor is barely warm at the top of my 3.8 km climb even unrestricted.

The 10S battery is just fine for now and I find that 500 W is plenty for this motor/bike combo.
