Hi.Does anyone here own a Greenedge CS2? I have just bought a secondhand example and wondered if it has a manual? Is there a downloadable version anywhere? I don't have any problems; it would just be nice to have a read through.
Anyway... happy cycling everyone.

What do you need to know?
Nothing in particular. As far as I know everything is good here but if it came with a manual I'd read it - unlike most guys I suppose! If there's a suggested maintenance schedule; how to care for the battery; any info about the gears etc... This is the first bike I've owned since my Raleigh Chopper 35 years ago so I'm a complete noob.

No maintenance is necessary other than routine stuff like oil the chain, check the brake pads, adjust the brakes.

Charge the battery after every time you use it unless you've only done a short journey.
Thanks for those replies. It's put my mind at ease that there's nothing quirky to look out for.
I had a confidence-building refresher cycling lesson yesterday, courtesy of my local council. They have a free Bike Doctor today who has offered to give the bike a thorough going-over and he said he'll show me the basic maintenance I'll need to know regarding chain, brakes and gears. Luckily he's happy to service my e-bike too so happy days.
Thanks once again d8veh.

PS Great video. Thanks for that link.

Took the bike out for its first ride today - NO PEDAL ASSISTANCE! Drat. The throttle lever works just fine - the bike takes off - but I got no assistance whatsoever from the motor - if anything, it seemed to be fighting against my pedalling.
Any ideas or I should I contact ebikes direct?

Check that your pedal sensor disk is close enough to its sensor. It's easy to move the disk along the shaft to become less than 5mm from the sensor.

Thanks JuicyBike. Sorry to seem like a doofus but is the sensor disk located on the pedal? I know this should be obvious but I'm not sure where the shaft is. Your help is really appreciated.

It's located behind the chainwheel. It's a black disc with silver magnets in it.

Ah OK. Brilliant. I'll check that - not until morning now as I'm not with the bike. I'll report back either way as I expect you'll not be able to relax until you know I'm all good! ;)
Cheers guys.

I've looked behind the chainwheel. I see a black disc. Are the magnets embedded? I don't see anything protruding which would activate the sensor. I've attached a pic. Can anyone confirm that there's something missing or does this look OK (apart from the dirt - I'll clean this bike up later today, I promise)Screen Shot 2016-09-19 at 09.00.53.png

To check that the pas works turn the bike upside down and remove the sensor, with the system on hold the sensor close to the magnets and spin the pedals you should then here and feel the system kick in. Usually there is a red signal light that flashes on and off as it senses.
The sensor (rhs looking at the pic) which has the wires coming from it looks to be to far from the magnet ring, for the pas to operate the sensor needs to be aprrox 1 - 5 mm from the magnet ring. Three things don't quite look right, someone has tried to bend the sensor, it looks like it is out of the scope of the magnets to also pick up and also looks like some one has try to repair it. You may have to get one .
or make up a new sensor ring to mount on the bike to get it nearer.
You need a pas sensor offset mounting bracket like this.

The gap between the black disc and sensor should be 1mm. Slide the disc across if you can.

Thanks for the help guys. I've looked again and the sensor disc seems to be held that fixed distance from the pick-up sensor. I've photographed it the best I can - it seems the (rusty) shaft between the disc and the pedals to STOP them from being closer. from the picture do you agree?spacer.jpg

There's something not right with the sensor. It looks like the actual sensor has broken off. Did the chain come off?

Yes, the chain was hanging off when it arrived! I bought it from eBay off a guy in Devon. I arranged for a courier to collect/deliver it. The numpty didn't secure it in the van so it was on its side when he got here - the chain was hanging off.
Thanks for that d8veh. So I should try and source a sensor. I'll get on to the shop now and see if they can help.

Update: new sensor on way (£18).
You're eagle-eyed d8veh. I hadn't noticed that the sensor is sheared off. That's exactly where the chain had got tangled whilst in transit. I just spoke to ebikes-direct and they're posting out a replacement part today.
Ain't internet forums the best thing since garlic bread?!

There's quite a lot of work involved in replacing the sensor, though this shortcut might help.

You have to remove the chainwheel to get at it, so you need a crank puller. Order one now:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Cycle-Bicycle-Tool-Crank-Extractor-Puller-Remover-Repair-Tool-Pedal-/151664696321?hash=item234feb9c01:g:aO8AAOSwBahVQAcJ

or with bottom bracket tool:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Bicycle-Cycle-MTB-Crank-Arm-Wheel-Puller-Remover-Repair-Extractor-Tool-Set-/162080925716?hash=item25bcc6a814:g:w-4AAOSwH6lXQtIg

The shortcut is that. if you're lucky, you can remove the sensor from its bracket and replace just the plastic sensor. It's often just held on with one screw.

If it doesn't come off, you have to remove the bottom bracket assembly using the BB tool. The chainwheel side has a left hand thread. You have to remove the other (left) crank first and then the left side splined thingy, then you can remove the right side to get the sensor bracket off.

Time to be honest here: I'm not much of a nuts'n'bolts type of person. However, when I attended my bike refresher dates this weekend I was given the details of a bike doctor. I have sent him the photos and the advice from this forum and asked if he'll carry out a full service (brakes, gears, etc) and also replace the sensor. He said he's happy to try and fix her up.
eBikeDirect were great too. After verifying the model year (2015) they said they'd pop a free manual for the bike into the package along with the sensor.
Hopefully I'll be back in the saddle by the weekend (fingers X'd).
I'll update with details once I'm all done.
All of your kind advice is really appreciated.
:)
