Well, it had to happen. I had a strong feeling from the beginning:

I just got an e-mail saying that my order is ready for shipping, but I need to send an extra $30 to cover the exta cost of shipping. The words in the e-mail were more or less identical to an email from BMSBattery saying the same thing, so it wouldn't surprise me if the connection between thetwo companies is a bit stronger than I thought.

The order was for $562, so that's only a 5% increase, and the overall price is still reasonable, but I noticed the amount gradually increasing with each order from BMSBattery. For a couple of orders from BMSBattery, I asked to cancel my order and get a refund, but they shipped without the extra payment instead.

I don't know whether this is a genuine fault of the algorithm in their shipping cost calculator. Maybe it's done in total innocence.

That's a shame - my order for a single motor went straight through. Then again, I suppose it's easier to calc postage ona single item.

Maybe they are the same company just setting up a second outlet given the negative feedback BMS have been having ?

All conjecture of course but interesting :p

I was thinking along the same lines, but i have a little bit of evidence that I don't really want to publish that suggests that they were compeditors, but maybe they've sorted out their differences and have decided to work together. There's definitely a strong link between the two companies.

Leopards don't change their spots. If there is a strong link between them the same crappy way of doing business will resurface.

I ordered a new battery from BMS the other week, and had to pay £13 or so VAT before DHL would deliver, (not a problem) but the order went through OK

You always get caught for duty on batteries. Luckily, it's never very much. Still cheaper than buying from the UK.
