I bought some SilverHook silicone grease off Ebay for my battery terminals, and packed out behind the dust seal on the main bearing before pushing the seal back in and wiping away the excess. I also packed out around the crank on the R/H side filling the void behind the circlip from the crankshaft bearing to the outer edge and refitted the crank arm. Been keeping the bike indoors and noticed some grease later that day on the laminate so wiped it and put some kitchen towel under it...a fair bit came out so just popped off the arm and the void is there again it's run out of the space...I was hoping it would be viscous enough to hold it's own form and not do this...is this normal (have I bought fake grease??!) and/or is there another thicker silicone grease I could use instead? The room it is in isn't that warm either, not even 20c so during use the crankshaft and motor may get higher than this, especially in summer? Or is packing it out like that excessive? The insides are still coated btw...

I've just put in an order...will let you all know how the transaction goes and the time frame! Pretty good deal all in all....always a good idea to "bank" consumables/essentials for bikes and as this is my first pedelec and 27.5" I've picked up the crank spider, spare spoke magnet, 2 x 2.4" Maxxis Ardents, 2 inner tubes, silicone grease, a couple of dust seals, a terminal cover for the pins on the bike when the battery is off.... Living in the middle of nowhere you kind of have to adopt a bit of a preppers mindset!!!

Funny I was watching Park videos on YT about this...what is the weight saving and looks like a lot of sealant slopping about as you ride- does this affect wheel balance? Then if you get a puncture you'd need to clean the tyre bead and any sealant slopping about and remove the valve before using a tube to get going again? Looks like a lot of faff tbh...

no balance problems less waight and able to run lower psi with no pinch flats tho if riding hard you can burp the tyre off the rim but it will seal fast.

since 2014 i have had no flats but stans no tubes had corroded my rims as no need for rim tape in the wheels i had so never using that crap again but i never cleaned it out so over time it did this.

i use this now same as eddie.

Looks like the short straight"3" Lycan hanger.... As a spare to carry a hanger is fine but a bleedin specialist tool to screw it to the frame too?!!

Still not convinced on TL conversion SW....The flu from hell hasn't lifted fully yet better see how the bike is first....!

once you change you will never go back even tho stans destroyed my wheels i never thought of going back to tubes as never had a flat and ramp the crap out of my bike.

tho now i have mavic dmax pros with a cat 4 rating and the new super gravity tyres they shold be pretty much bomb proof bar jumping of cliffs lol.

tho you can have both with pro core.

https://www.schwalbe.com/en/procore.html

you try fit a sg tyre over that :eek:

My rims are DT Swiss E512 and the OE Nobby Nics and the Ardents I've got are tubeless suitable so compatible...just need to do some more research over the subject on the pros and cons...it's not something critical at the moment tbh!! Nice link to the ProCore system- looks to be best of both worlds- run low pressure but save your rims and stop burping?

i have seen a pro core fail but vid has long gone but the rim snapped in half lol what puts most of is a air blast pump to fit the tyres or a air comp some tyres and rims are easy but some are a pita to fit unless you can get hold of one or the other.

i have one of these but got it b4 crapsmass so got it for 35 quid on offer but does the job. ;)

another cheaper option is slime tubes.

I must admit that I have never given it second thought. The hanger is of good quality, and the mounting design seems very good. At 100mm long, the spanner doesn't take up any room, and is actually easier to store than the spare hanger. :)

This what I tend to carry.

Comprehensive kit there- I need to make up a couple as will be using a Dhb backpack on the mtb but when I use my road bike I use a small pannier on a Velocity narrow rack. But alternating means transferring the multitool, tyre levers etc but not obviously tubes, and have two different pumps but there's more risk of forgetting something when you're bouncing between two systems. With highly variable climate and temperature in the highlands I tend to carry extra clothing and thin sealskinz socks are worn with a thin undersock most of the year. If I'm on the road bike I'm clipped in but still wear the above sock combo as road shoes seem to be over vented, and I'll have neoprene overshoes in the pannier.
My basics are:
1/Topeak Alien multitool
2 2 park levers
3/ pump
4/ 2 tubes and cut piece of old tyre sidewall for internal tyre repair
5/ Quick link
6/ first aid kit
7/ gear inner cable
8/ USB front and rear lights
9/Blizzard Bag (pimped up survival foil)
10/map,compass and PLB (lots of places don't get a phone signal here- it was bought for sea kayaking but is legal to use on land now)
11/ mobile phone plus spare battery, ID, credit card, some cash
12/ thermal beanie
All the rest depends on the day, duration, forecast, road or off road etc...

That caffelatex system looks pretty good....Back to work today (Work in an outdoor centre) and asked a few of the instructors who bike a lot (but hate e bikes lol) about TL and without exception all said it was far better than running tubes and punctures were none existent as the tyre seals itself- a major blow or rip obviously needs a boot and a tube. The Tubeless strip and valve for this system comes in 3 widths- my rims are 25mm int/30mm ext so not sure what width of tape to go for... the Effetto website bases it on external width and it should be "L" or 30-35mm but would a "M" 25-29mm fit better? The Park vid I saw said not to exceed the internal width of the rim when applying tape??? Not exactly clear....!!!
