This is where we differ, I wouldn't have a problem with that.
The car was nowhere near within the lines and you were within your lines.
If I had a cam I'd have about 10 like that every day, the ones that worry me are when they hit my mirror.
I had a cam about 7 years ago, every evening I'd take footage off it and upload to You Tube and Facebook, after a month it broke and I found I wasn't having as many incidents so I had my money back.
It was less than 1.5m away, therefore too close. There were a lot of them yesterday during the day, closer and faster. Driver behaviour doesn't seem to have changed at all.

This was very worrying. Night time close passes worry me more, the probablility of drivers driving drunk or drugged is much higher.

If the number plate does have the letter spacing as CLO 2 TOY rather than CLO2 TOY, then the plate is illegal and the vehicle is un-roadworthy.

It does look like the number plate is "CL0 2 TOY".
This MOT and Tax check...

Says:
_____
Vehicle details could not be found

You searched forCL02TOY
____

The search result for "CLO2 TOY" was "Invalid"

Maybe it's a fake plate, and this driver can do whatever the hell he or she wants? I'll be shooting at 120fps from now on.

Quite possibly, fake and altered plates could invalidate the required 3rd party insurance, if the driver has any. So the driver could be personally liable for the costs of accidents etc ...

"1 million uninsured drivers"?!?

The roads are the Wild West! And there really is an organisation called Men In Black (MIB)?

Motorists are the bigger threat! This car passed too close imho, but was slow enough for my awful camera to catch the plate perhaps. Looks like it might be "CLO 2 TOY" or "CL0 2 TOY"?

I may switch to recording at 120 frames per second in future, to increase my chances of clear night time number plate images
That pass was dangerous and unacceptable, more so as he squeezed pass with traffic islands to one side. When I approach islands like those I use my mirror indicate with my arm and ride in prime to prevent be squeezed, having passed said island I move over to my 1m position.
No use having cameras and not reporting th offences to plod, even if plates are false they may stop him at another time.
When reporting or posting footage to plod one should keep it off mainstream media or forum's until after any outcome.

If cyclists are willing to accept stupid close passes as the norm and not report them, then drivers will never change there bad driving ways.

I do the same, only safe way to do it really.

The motorist might well see the cyclist some distance back, move out to overtake, and then its a case of "who put that traffic island there ?"

Strange how if it is a fake plate they would choose a plate like that and draw attention to ones self. Probably just shows their mentality.

Car reg looks like it might be CE02 TOY, comes up as a Benz E250AMG 5 door estate type.

Issue is the plate reading isn't clear so plod may likely not do anything.
Soon as I saw the still shot my eyes registered CE and not CL.

It was definitely a Mercedes, well spotted! Glad I got some forum eyes on it, thank you! But as you say, not a clear plate and the cops probably won't be interested. I'd waste time making a statement.

I worry about doing that at night, in case some drunk, druggie, or texting driver fails to see me and runs me over... if I'm over to one side, at least I'd be out of their direct path.

Yes, night time is a different ball game even if lit up like a xmas tree. It is the time when most risk speeding more I find esp later after 9 or 10pm.

I noticed in the clip his brake lights came on after passing you, was this because of the traffic ahead and they realised they were going too fast or was it a reaction and he heard your horn beep ?
Personnally I think you need and AirZound they are super noisy.

I don't know if he braked because of my Hornit 120db beep, which in theory is louder than the AirZound's 115db? The weird shriek Hornit option is 140db, but that's too strange to be recognised as anything non-avian.

I've ordered a Passpixi XL "Spare" 120mm square camera symbol for £4.50. I expect they're selling spares without magnets because the signs fly off and get lost. I'm going to glue it to thin aluminium sheet, drill holes through and ziptie it to the springs of my bike saddle. I bloody well hope it's reflective.
