Hi,

I got the official GoPro mount, however, it doesn't seem to fit the Rio's handlebars properly resulting in slanted footage, has anybody encountered and or overcome this. I want to avoid using a chest mount and prefer to stick a handlebar mount, please.

Thanks

You can tilt video (and zoom in slightly to remove black bits) in many video editing programs on PC or Mac. I usually use Adobe Premiere for work, but my very old version of Sony Vegas Pro has that function (now called Magix, after a buyout - check features before you try/buy their cheapest offering, in case it doen't have that function).

My cheapo action camera of crash-disposable price, came with zillions of bits and pieces, one of which is a tilting connector with a 1/8th inch thread. You'd have to hunt down something similar for your GoPro, if you didn't want to post process your video:

I don't like it - it only becomes sturdy with a lot of tightening. I'd only use that on my handlbar when the two supplied 45 min batteries ran out of juice. Some of my journeys are 4 hours or more. I can charge batteries in-camera on the handlebar (if it's not raining - the USB cable doesn't go through the waterproofed case) while recording, using the USB connector on my C18 display (Bafang BBS01b kit).

It's currently on my chin:

But I can turn myself into a Tellytubby by mounting it on top of my head:

It might be safer to mount it on the side, but that means the drilling a couple of small holes... I'll see if it's necessary. Video will most likely be slightly tilted when mounted on the side of my BMX helmet.

There are a few tilt mounts which you could look at:

The Gopro mount is quite limited. Most cheaper non-Gopro cams come with handlebar mounts as standard that adjust in all directions. This one looks fairly reasonable and a lot more versatile - and half the cost of the Gopro mount too:

Top parts of these?

...you might be able to source just the top part cheaper elsewhere. Likely flimsy and rubbish.

I use a QuadLock mount to hold my mobile phone onto my Cube handlebar and am very pleased with it

That's interesting! Do you have a link to that? I'm sure that my OnePlus phone camera would be better than the (possibly - untested) cr*p action camera I've just bought, and overall, it'd be less weight and phaff.

Hi, I described it in an earlier post here https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/recommend-me-an-iphone-holder-for-middle-of-handlebars.37735/post-565322

The link to the actual product https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/products/bike-mount

Plus you need this to attach to your phone case https://www.quadlockcase.co.uk/products/universal-adapter

Or they do dedicated cases for some phones (but not the Oneplus it seems) although I would not recommend those as the one I bought for my Huawei P20 Pro was extremely difficult to put on and take off (so I use a spare minimal case with the universal adapter attached instead).

Hope this helps!
